Best Free MMORPG

There are no free MMO games worth playing. Those that are free are free for a reason - they are so bad no one would ever consider paying for them.

Guild Wars isn't an MMORPG. All I'm saying is, with a free MMORPG you're going to get some Korean grindfest, some old MMORPG that has been abandoned or something along those lines.
But it is an MMO? I play with other people online in a persistent world. MMO? Don't knock it! :p

Pardon my ignorance; what does AAA MMO mean? I know MMO is massively multiplay online but I've never come across the AAA.
Triple A, as in high quality. I.e. WoW, Guild Wars, er LoTROL etc rather than the rougher, smaller MMOs such as the fifty billion the Korean's created :D

Although technically Guild Wars is an MMO, many people suggest that it's not as the world is entirely instanced. I'd tend to agree with them. How can it be an MMO when your limited to a small group in an instanced zone? It's closer to co-op than MMO if you ask me.

The PvP is also pretty crap, but that's just my opinion :p

care to expand upon that?
MU Online is a pay-to-play MMO like any other, though they do offer a free version with reduced xp and loot drops etc. If your playing it on a private server then your playing it illegally.

TBH, you would get a much better experience and much more fun by just paying the £8 a month for WOW. It is far and away the best MMO ever.

Your funny!

to be honest, he's not far from right.

Ok, so it's not perfect, but aside from personal opinion what are the things that make it worse than any other?

The weekly maintenence has vastly improved in stability and reliability, the GM's are ALWAYS on hand (with exception of public holidays), the server reliability is fantastic and when it's not, communication of this is good. The websites are huge and full of useful stuff, there is a PvP league, casual pvp, hardcore pvp, causal playing, hardcore raiding, adults and kids and students with plenty of time on their hands. The gold-sellers have just been screwed by the recent patch, which has put a 1 hour delay on all mails between accounts (including gold) which allows them to scan the gold mails and block them. The delete botters (of course they still exist, as they always will in any profitable environment) regularly.

I'm not a fanboi, i'm all up for playing any game and sinking a decent amount of time into it, but i am genuinely interested in any legitimate reasons why it's not a good game, if not the top of the list. Aside from personal opinion, as stated. (im not saying there are no reasons, i just dont know what they are. i dont want an argument)

EVE online is free if you play it right

www.eve-online.com

first 2 weeks are a free trial, make lots of in game money in that 2 weeks and trade for a 30 day Game Time Card

then do the same for the next 30 days, as each 30 days go by you'll be making more and more and then you can crank it upto a 90 day GTC,

then over the period of those 90 days you'll be earning huge amounts and you can fly around in your pimped faction battleship like me :p

PC Format has a 14 day (I think) trial of Guild Wars on this month's coverdisk if you wanna try before you buy. It is very cheap now of course so there's no reason not to buy it.
