Somewhere in the middle.
Whats your favourite enemy in a computer game. Any platform.

I cant name one specific one myself, but standout ones for me are..

The Hunter on Resident Evil cos when it first comes you literally poop your pants and panic :)
The Big Daddy on Bioshock for his awesomeness
The Striders on Half life 2 for the scale they seemed to bring to the game when I first encountered em.

In no particular order -
Nefarian from WoW as he was one of the first boss fights that required some skill and co-ordination.
As OP, I like the Big-Daddies as they are in general pretty groovy.
As a mini-boss the Tentacles from HL were great fun

- Pea0n

Glados - for the pure hilarity.

The Butcher (Diablo) - for the huge log in my pants when I first played Diablo aged 9.

i have only ever really played one game when the badies were anything to worry about and that was ninja gaiden. nothing else has really provided much involvment (perhaps thats not a good word) like if there is a bad guy in say zelda, it may take a while to learn ot beat it but once you do it's just click click click done, but i always felt the bad guys in ninja gaiden would typically be much harder and constanlty require a lot of concentration.

Bloodsucker in Stalker, for the first time you meet one. I was like......"I know there is something down here....wait, it's, what is that moving towards me?"

Also, not really an enemy - but those damned hidden rigged shotguns in Fallout 3 are in just because they make me jump every single time!

Metallix from sonic series.
Elites from halo (brutes just suck).
Witches fom L4D are often interesting as well.

As above fighting Nefarian for the first time is a blast.

Again above about the bad guys from Ninja gaiden series... the entire lot of them can goto hell for kicking my arse so much... in particular the Vigoor beserkers for being so badass. The spider bosses from NG2 on the other hand i just hate, mainly because i'm stuck on them on master ninja mode, all nine of them.

Big Daddies in Bioshock were kinda cool.

For a single boss fight, C'Thun in vanilla WoW wins hands down.

Not strictly an enemy, but a vehicle type from TIE Fighter:

Any TIE Defender with a pilot loyal to Zaarin. They are a ***** to shoot down. :p

The poison headcrabs in HL2. Even though they couldn't actually kill you, their death rattle would strike terror into your heart and you'd instantly flail around wildly trying to find the little buggers. Good stuff.
A little bit more obscure - the non-moving guards in Prince of Persia. Most guards would advance towards you which made it easy to hit them. The non-moving guards made you move forward, which made you easy to hit.
