best game to show of Graphics

Crysis
This. Although some will disagree, and offer some excellent examples of decent graphics in games, in my honest opinion Crysis still gives the best offering we've seen yet, especially when modded with custom configs/TODs etc.
Crysis/Crysis 2 is very nice to look at (though I'm not a fan of the game) lol.
Not quite your style of play it seems but I always find the total war series stunning and extremely engrosing to play. but they haven't enabled AA for Shogun 2 yet... when they do try that out, it promises to be superb graphics in DX11 when it does get patched in! Maybe look at Napoleon? Such huge armies in high detail and smoke effects mods etc are beautiful!

runs great but cant reach 60 fps maxed out. Had a 5870 and its decent but I prefer my 6970 with the extra memory also as in the jungle crysis maxed will use over 1gb. Games to show off would be crysis as been said or try bfbc2. maybe get your self an eyefinity set up. about the only thing to push your cards really or 3d set up

Wasted his money? Surely that depends on what resolution he's running, what minimum framerates he finds acceptable, and what level of detail he chooses.
I'd be more than happy with 2 x 6950's

crysis with mods and metro 2033 are the 2 biggies that will show off them cards, i have the same and maxes both with ease
maxes both, not with ease though. im sure i seen the 6990 get 61 fps on crysis in the benchmarks. maxes it but not with ease

To add a few people havnt mentioed yet bullet storm, bad company 2.
Metro and crysis are the top 2 though.
Driving games wise dirt 2 and F1 2010 and the latest need for speed games.
Gta 4 also looks very nice if you mod it very fun just driving around the city

Just Cause 2, Crysis and Metro look the best imo. Not much really pushing hardware at the moment though.
If you enjoy driving games, Shift 2 and F1 2010 look pretty darn good.
Once Dirt 3 is released in a few weeks, nothing will look better on the PC - it looks stunning in the videos.

The scenery and landscapes in Just Cause 2 are definitely pleasing to the eyes, so I'll add my voice to that crowd. The cities don't look terrific, mind you, but the mountains, desert, water, sky, and forests look absolutely awe-inspiring, and it really does take your breath away when you consider the game's immense draw distance.
Despite the above, though, I'd still rate Crysis the best, so you absolutely must play that if nothing else.

well my 6950's are unlocked and only at 1920x1080p, so i would say yes with ease.
Forgot about just cause 2, will download it again through steam.
Oh and bad company 2 (with bloom turned off makes the game look so much better) imo looks amazing.
