Best gpu for q9550

That's if the board allows that GPU ... Bios update might allow it
Well i've updated it to the latest what i found online as the one on msi page wasn't the latest and was making my pc to do RR when starting it up. And on the compatability list it states that it supports :)

Full release of PUBG is out this month or soon at least I’ve read, so might be worth seeing what a full version is like, clearly it’s a demanding game, but then it’s not optimised for anything specific, I have played the division beta on a mid range i3 setup prior to its release and my system ran it better once full game came out.

If a 6-core/12-thread Westmere with GeForce GTX 980 can't handle it, imagine what kind of a system it requires, a GTX 1080 Ti for sure

That system should be able to run pubeg no problem, I'm running a Westmere too, the x5650 clocked to 4.4ghz with a 1070ti and on the test server (which appears to be much better optimised) I get over 100fps minimum. It's usually hovering around the 120-160fps range. I'm running everything in very low except for: AA- high, textures - high, effects - medium, draw distance - high.

As for the op's question, I'd get the 970, it's significantly faster. I have a 1050ti in my gen8 microserver (with quad core Xeon E3 1265l v2) and its around 40-70fps with EVERYTHING on very low.

Thank you for your input aswell. But now is there a point for 970 if in couple of years that pc will be just for htpc? And i will just need hdmi or dp port so to get sound and video out of it :)

I think in a couple of years when you look to upgrade again you'd be better off selling the 970 at that point and getting a lesser spec non gaming card which just draws power through the PCI-E bus. I have a Gen8 Microserver for my HTPC and the 1050ti is in that. I only got that for some light gaming though, then decided to build a proper gaming PC. Even then, the 1050ti is 75w TDP (actual draw on mine was 69w TDP iirc). 970 I'll guess is significantly higher, probably even on idle lol.

I'll see whats the cheapest i could get 970, as for me new or used in the same price bracket thats why pocket goes for buying new thing but in my head the raw power of 970 takes the olace against the 1050ti :D thats why confused. But i'll see whats good around. And whats the best price for used one would be??

Dunno about price, but performance wise the 970 will kill it.
for me that 970 looks as well better to get it but i'm not sure if my mobo will be compatible with it... and going with new 1050ti i will be able to return it :D because i checked and i'm running already the latest bios so might be tricky :confused:

GTX970 is a 150w card, it's not a power hungry card at all. You could undervolt/underclock it to reduce TDP and it'd probably still beat the 1050ti.

i'm not worried about how hungry it is, i'm just confused what to do with it if it won't run on this pc :D to resell again :D

That is what i was thinking, about you reselling the gtx 970 or possibly upgrading your cpu ram and motherboard.
Ill wait till boxing day or any closer sales to see whats on the desk untill then i might find a friend who has 970 so to try out in my pc if it runs will go with 970 :D will see

I used to run a q9550 and a 970. Worked a charm at 1080p for all games at medium/high settings.

The q9550 chip is such a beast of a cpu still to this day it has clout.
