FPS Gaming.
I have read about 4 pages and have come to the conclusion i need specific input from you pros because theres mix opinions

Requirements:
under 60
x-fi xtreme music soundcard windows xp
Sound for FPS Games
Noise Reduction on headset & mic
Mute / Unmute (Bonus)
Superb positioning/accuracy

Ok, i take my gaming seriously, semi-pro you could say as i compete for cash so its really important i get as much information as possible.

I currently have sennhesier pc155 OLD headset which has just failed on me
They are pretty good but theres better, they dont block any noise which is terrible at lan because i can hear everyone else over my game.

I need something that can cancel noise and pinpoint exactly above/below/behind/infront perfectly that wont fail. I also need a good mic to talk to my team mates about the enemies position.

I dont want overpriced labels :( or to pay £££ for something that £ will do

I'm in love with my Beyerdynamic DT770 (80 ohm) pros. Love how they sound in games actually. A proper set of headphones and a stand alone mic is definately the way forward.

Hxc speaks wise words. I went through a lot of "gaming" sets and a 5.1 set that broke on me after 6 months as well. The stereo headphones I have now are much much better. The 5.1 thing is a gimmick in my opinion.

only two worth considering for £60 and below sennheiser hd555 and goldring dr150 you're just not going to find a great quality closed headphone for under £60.

You can get Audio Technica ATH-500 for £60 if you import (£5 delivery), otherwise I agree.

HD555
Goldring DR150 or
Grado SR-60 / Allesandro MS1 sound great but they're but a little uncomfortable.

btw, my friend really wants me to get the barracudas for £76 delivered - is it worth that much?

Will it work fine with a x-fi xtreme music sound card aswell?

Maybe some people who big up these 5.1 and 7.1 headphones have probably never heard quality stereo headphones If i were you I'd go with sennheiser hd555 goldring dr150 or the audio technica as mentioned above just make sure if you import they send as a gift or low value item or you'll get stung from customs.
audio technica ATH-A700 900 range etc are probably the best gaming headphones but they are £100 + maybe could get a second hand pair ?

ok, yea they havent tried sterio headphones but i really need a decent mic and the advantage of having a mic on the headset makes it easier for voice activation. Have any of u tested recent gaming headsets against sterio though?

I mean you all reccomend the sterio ones but as i specifically said i want it for comfort blocknig out noise and PINPOINT preciision for footsteps

some from america cost 123 dollars, is that £61 in english and then do i pay tax or vat or anything on that?

If i do how can i avoid, is it even worth it for the sake of £15pounds? concerning returning the item if it breaks etc and possible delivery cost?

I use a set of Sennheiser HD555 with a Zalman clip on mic, they don't block out surrounding noise but unless you're playing in the same room as a TV/Music I wouldn't see that as an issue.

They sound brilliant for music and they're very accurate when it comes to games, I've been accused of cheating once or twice on CSS due to being able to hear them coming when others can't.

blocking noise is extremely important, my friend had the 5.1 pro gamer and upgraded to a barracuda so i guess it actually is the best... thnx for input

Am i better buying for 123dollar at america or £76 delivered UK

Wow, 8 channel headphones. How cheap and nasty must the drivers in them be.
You would be far better off with a proper stereo headset or headphones + mic which is the better option as from what I've heard even the Sennheier headsets are pretty poor. For less than that horrible surround sound headset you could get yourself some HD-555's and the Zalman clip-on microphone like Raikiri uses.

dont know who raikiri is but like i said, im after experience from people who have tried them and i'v heard the 555 dont block out noise and i dont really want a clip on mic.

I also understand the headsets may not be as good quality but i dont care for music its all about pinpoint precision and as far as i can tell more channels for accuracy, obviously for behind and infront. I have the sennheiser pc 155 (yes 155) they are good but cant block crap for noise and sound pretty ok for music

Get the Equation Audio RP-21 and a clip-on/desktop microphone. I bet it'll blow the socks of that Razer headset in both sound quality and positional audio.

I foolishly bought the Speedlink Medusa Home Edition headset and I thought it was incredibly poor. I'm not an audiophile myself, by any means, but I could tell that this had to go back. I now have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros and, not only is the sound far superior, it trounces the Medusas for positional audio, too.

The problem with these surround sound headsets is the tiny drivers used. Each driver is generally pretty poor for positional audio as it can't produce the lows and, more importantly, the mids very well. Although the Medusas had what's-equivalent-to a sub-woofer driver in each cup, this didn't only worked in conjunction with the front drivers, so any sound coming from behind me was very tinny. Furthermore, there were so many sounds I couldn't hear, let alone position them in my surroundings, because the drivers only managed to provide a tinny, hollow sound.

You will be much better off getting getting a pair of headphones with one full-range driver in each cup, capable of producing the full frequency spectrum in all directions.
