Best Indian in Glasgow

Another vote for Mother India, love that place. I sometimes buy a few extra curries to take home and freeze.

They had a chicken chasni on special at the weekend, it was one of the nicest things I had ever tasted, the only problem being I didnt order it but fortunately a girl with a girls appetite did so i got to enjoy a fair chunk of it, it was very orangey flavoured.

Balbirs Saffron Lounge in Shawlands is cack.

Get a taxi to Giffnock and go to the Turban Tandoori beside the railway station. You can't beat it!

Didnt even know there was one on the Southside! always use the West End for takeaways as its not far from me.

Mother Indias cafe fo me, went there many many many times, prefer it to Mother india as you get to sample more foods, oh how I miss the hot and sour baked fish! Balbirs on Church Street is also very very good.

Mother India Cafe, it's fantastic. It's always busy but you shouldn't have too many problems getting a table. It's quite quick turnaround, but you don't feel rushed. Food is excellent, service is wonderful and the price is great.
Unfortunately their restaurant isn't quite as good.

I also love the Dhabba in Merchant City (though only eaten there twice) and I'm having my birthday meal in there on Saturday. Might be a spare seat if anyone wants to come :).

Also of note is The Shish Mahal in Woodlands. It's consistently good, friendly service and generous portions.

However, there really isn't a truly great Indian in Glasgow in my view. If you're in Aberdeen, I recommend The Jewel In The Crown. It's truly wonderful.

Well got plenty to try whenever i'm back in Glasgow. For this trip i'm going to go to Dhabba.

Cheers guys.

Jock, if you're in on Saturday look for a table of 12ish people. Come and say hi and since it's my birthday you can buy me a pint. :D

Its looking like we'll going on Saturday but at lunchtime, got a family do on the night time which is the reason were up there this weekend. So looks like i'll just miss you.

Got relegated to the Sat lunch since the wife wants to go back to Gamba on the Friday night. Which is another one I'd reccomend if anyone likes seafood.

Really need to get myself up there more often. At least i'll replenish my stock of haggis, square sausage and plain bread!

Used to be ideal as my brother has a flat on George Square but its had students in it for the past year.

The best Indian in Glasgow in my opinion is without doubt the Dhabba in Merchant City. Whatever you do, don't go to the sister restaurant (the Dhakin) which is the worst Indian in the city! (one is north, one is south, the Dhakin is just plain weird).

Not sure what one I was in, it was across the street the beer cafe and upstairs. Thought it was v good. Didn't particularly pay lots but we had loads of food.

Can deffo confirm on the recommendation for mother india cafe as well. Not sure if they still do but they used to to have a big bowl of drumstick lollies when your leaving as well :D

jack, that was the Dhakin. It has had good reviews, but when me and my father ate there we both thought it was poor.

Haha, no problem. Yea, I love Gamba. It isn't cheap, but very good.
