Best instant coffee?

life's too short for instant coffee - come to the dark side, we have a drink that's delicious and takes allot less time and effort than you think :)

For £50 you can get a very good grinder, a way of brewing (clever dripper, aeropress, pour over, cafetiere, stove top etc) and some decent beans (http://hasbean.co.uk/) from there its just a case of grinding and brewing.

This can take as little as 2-3 min. Admittedly thats more than instant but most of the work can be done while your waiting for the kettle to boil & beleave me it'll be much much better than starsucks

:)

Millicano smells absolutely amazing, but for drinking I prefer Carte Noir.

Of course, i'm a stupid pansy and prefer iced coffee to hot coffee, so what do I know? :p

I 100% agree with brewing fresh ground coffee and I prefer it too. But as a student, I go for the instant. Don't think I'd bother buying a machine or French Press as I'd like to bring it home but I wouldn't have space in my suitcase to :P.

Although, last year I went through 2 coffee machines and 1 French Press. Ah I had some good coffee last year.

As for instants, I like Kenco Alta Rica and Carte Noire. I'm interested in trying the Millicano.

Just back from Sainsburys.

I went looking for the Millicano and I found it for £3.99... but what I found next to it looked a treat. Carte Noire Whole Bean Instant Coffee and it was half price at £2.49 (originally £4.99).

So I think I made the wise choice? It smells almost like Instant coffee, but it's the taste that sets it apart from other instant coffees. It tastes like a badly brewed freshly ground coffee. That is by no means a bad thing. It has the characteristics of a freshly brewed coffee, but obviously still isn't.

Worth a shot to pick it up if you're near a Sainsburys... for £2.49 :o.

Unfortunately I can't compare it to the Millicano, which I will buy next time.

This.... I'm going to try experimenting with a cafetiere and maybe chemex... (sod paying a grand for a coffee maker)

Just got to work out which beans suit me best

EDIT: Damn this is like a science.... Hopefully I'll never drink another instant again :D I've found a new hobby by the looks of it....
