Best Internet review site for games

I use IGN and gamespot but I don't tend to read reviews that often. If I'm interested in a game I'll have a quick look at the summary and score on IGN and gamespot and maybe a minute or 2 of video. I have, if anything, too many games available to play right now to justify investing any amount of time into reading about games that are coming soon or games that I don't yet own.

If your decision to buy is based on the review avoid all of them and look at player reviews instead as most of the major review sites are always going to give a favourable review even when the game is poor as they depend on the publisher advertising to survive so are not criticial enough ;) (and yes they do get bribed to say nice things about certain games!).

kidding right? Nobody should use ZP as a review site, they're just a form of entertainment.

Not in the slightest bit kidding. He often picks up on things other people miss and seems to have the same kind of tastes as i do. If i've already played a game he's reviewed then i watch the review his opinion is pretty much bang on with my own.

yeah but he also doesn't talk about games positives 90% of the time. His negatives are often accurate (although a bit overblown) but he is an incredibly biased reviewer who paints a very narrow view of games, he is a great entertainer though.

Gamespot here for a quick look at review scores.

They collate all the press scores and give an average as well which I find fairly useful, however at the end of the day it's ME who decides whether I like a game or not.

Gametrailers to see footage of the more high profile games, but in general I use Metacritic/Gamerankings because I find it far more useful to observe the general consensus on the quality of games.

No game review is unbiased (nor should it be) so if I go to a specific site for a review, it's because I want to know what someone in particular thinks of the game, not because I'm looking for a definitive answer on it's quality.
