Weird for the sake of it or no cohesive ending is something I've never been keen on. Usually it makes me think they didn't know how to end it so went for the lazy option.

Surprised nobody's posted a Gilliam film yet, but that's possibly the most disturbing film I've ever watched.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus also comes into this bracket, and is possibly more recognisably Gilliam trademark style from the Monty Python series and is somewhat lighter in tone.
