After a fair amount of pondering i'm considering buying the kit listed below. It will be used for gaming, so at some point it will be overclocked, it this the best mobo/memory combo to provide a decent and stable overclock?

And could you please recommend a suitable third party CPU cooler that isn't too big and is easy to fit.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.16GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £145.99

Asus P5Q-E Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £105.00

OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 Dual Channel (OCZ2G10664GK) £38.99

Not too big is a very open request mate, how about telling us the case maybe better to get an idea of size...very good set up you have there couple that with TRUE(which is large) but you will have a 4.0Ghz all day long with nice temps

Tbh you would be fine going for the E8400 instead :p How about this.? :)

It's an Akasa ECLIPSE-62 CASE mate.;)

And thank you and you other guys for a very prompt response, much appreciated!:)

Any other comments folks?

yea dont get 1066mhz memory, 800mhz will be the same just cheaper

Agree go with 800mhz, imo dont bother with deluxe mobo the E will do just fine and +1 for the e8400 so you have ...

E8400
Asus P5Q-E
800Mhz ram of your choice

With the money you save you could maybe get a corsair H50 should be fine on a dual core?

Really? mind you the memory that Kenny suggests is only 38 quid! how much of a saving would i make? And could the lower speed memory be detrimental when it comes to overclocking the CPU?

hmm looking again you stand to save £4 in memory didt know the gap closed that much on mem go for the 8500 stuff for the sake of £4 cant hurt :p

Just what i was thinking!:D

Is there anything to gain by paying the extra and buying a Asus P5Q over the Asus P5Q-E?

If you go to the asus site mate you can put all there boards side by side and see which one id better for you, oh btw have you seen the deal of the week be quick but pro turbo is only £89...i had one of these and payed £120 got me 3.8ghz on a 7400 no problem ;)

If you are going to be overclocking then you will need pc2 8500 memory with a E8400. Personally i would go with the Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5 Intel X48 motherboard. Most people will recommend a P45 board over X48 but this Gigabyte is significantly cheaper than most of the P45 boards, has more features than the budget P45 boards and has the option of full speed crossfire should you ever decide to go down that route.

a big 'Thank you' for the advice guys, so up to now it will probably be an 8400 CPU with some 8500 ram and one of the boards recommended below.;)

The akasa eclipse will take the TRUE cooler with ease, that cooler will also fit on the p5q deluxe or the p5qe, same case and cooler i use myself.
