Indeed, the video signal is the same, so the picture quality is the same.

The only difference between DVI-D and HDMI is that HDMI carries an audio signal and the pins are configured differently on the connectors.
 
Hi sorry to kinda Hi-jack the thread but I wondered what you guys think?

I have brought a 3d vision kit, and was going to get a 3d monitor?

Which one is better the ASUS, BENQ, ACER or LG?

I was going to go with the BENQ, but im undecided, also I know ppl say about 3D = headaches etc etc, but i only really want that for movie watching etc not for gaming. but the main use of this monitor will be gmaing.

Or do i scrap the 3D and get some 27" monitor? for about the same or less price?

Do you have a hardware calibrator?

tftcentral calibrates there monitors to optimum settings, might be good to see if there's a review there and use the settings given as a guideline.

scrap the 3d and get a 27", there is no need for 3D with movies (along with it being barely available)

also why are you buying prezzies so late? :P
 
Aren't someone else's calibrated setting generally useless, since all individual panels are different?

If you want to try some new settings, then nosluom posted this today.

Difficult question.
Its down to personal preferences. Depending on what monitor attributes you value and in what order will determine which monitor will be your favourite.
I use a 120hz monitor whilst playing any multiplayer games. In FPS games, the added smoothness being able to display 120fps makes tracking people much easier. During a quick turn you can still see the target. When i play the same game at 60fps the same turn renders the target into a slight blur making it much harder to track. Also your mouse turns feel more responsive.
These attributes add an edge to your gaming. This edge is very important if your competitive. The split second difference is quite often the difference between making a frag or being fragged yourself. I think this difference becomes more apparent at the high skill level matches where opponents will often kill each other within a split second of seeing each other on screen.
Also with a 120hz screen you can pick up the 3d vision glasses and play a growing number of 3d vision games. For me 3d gaming is WOW.

For everything else i use a 2560x1440 ips monitor U2711.
Moving to this monitor from the 120hz one i notice there is a reduction in responsiveness. Also motion is not as smooth. However neither of these reductions in quality reduce my enjoyment of the game. I adjust very quickly and dont even notice after a while. What this monitor does give me is a far better image quality. Ignoring the resolution size. The colours are much better. Better than any of my previous five tn panels, and better than my previous va panel which was Nec 24wmgx3. This more than makes up for the lack of motion clarity.

So for me personally, as long as its not competitive play, and presuming 3d isnt a consideration, an ips monitor would be my first choice. But for online multiplayer, especially fps games, and glitch free 3d vision ready games 120hz screen is a no brainer.

What i wish for is a screen that gives the same image quality as ips gives, whilst displaying 120fps with low input lag with option of 3d glasses that tn gives. Until then i must have two monitors on my desk.
