As title. I need this purely for storage sakes mainly for mp3's and video. I guess a 7200rpm drive would be nice but RELIABILITY is paramount.

Can you recommend me a reliable/trustworthy drive worth buying?

It also needs to be pretty quiet...

I've always had good luck with Western Digital drives, I favour them personally but we're going back years since I last purchased one so not sure if much has changed...

Thanks guys :)

Just noticed this in today only. Yay or nay? :D

I've read something about advanced formatting? Means nothing to me, but I want to hook this up to an XP system, initialise and format it and be done? Mobo is an Abit IC7-Gmax 2 I think, bout 5/6 years old! Just needed for a storage drive. Or would the "S" model be better? Same part no with S at the end?

Will they play video fine no skipping/buffering and that kind of thing? More importantly are they reliable? I've got a lot of faith in WD and theres only a few quid in it, I just wanna make sure I buy the right drive with all this advanced formatting thing and SATA 6gps whatever it means these days :D

I wouldn't trust a samdung. Had 3 fail on me and they are cheaper for a reason. Get the WD or a Seagate. Only 2 makes I use now.

I've owned all 3 brands at some point and the only ones not to have failed are the Samsungs. Everyone's mileage varies.
