Purely subjective ranking. It's apparently been tested using proper sound equipment 'late May'.

I have a P2 and I really like it. I get superb hi, mids and bass using the custom 7 band equaliser and bass boost. It also has a custom 7 band 'Master EQ' (affecting all sound from the player, such as video audio and FM radio, not just from playing music files). If you do get one, make sure you flash the firmware to version EU 3.15, it's much better. :)

I wouldnt be biased because of my NWZ-A829 at all.

Truly though, the Sony flash drives have been very highly rated, and they come out on top in terms of the Sound quality above all else, and the fact that Sonicstage is no more, has bluetooth funcionality built-in & that it is now in a 16gb version, it cant really be beaten in my eyes :D

Itouch, there pretty nice, and it has plenty of bonus features on there aswell, i.e. browsing, videos, photos etc..
 
I had Zen Vision M and then decided to get a Cowon D2 and I am totally made up that I got it , Touch screen, fantastic sound quality ,video,dab, omg the battery life is amazing, and cool little built in app for doin notes and drawing..

Just as important is decent earphones:eek:
I did have a zen for a couple of weeks but returned it, did not rate the sound quality.

Cowon, Sony, Zune all seem to be highly rated, cant see you goin wrong with any of them.

i like the idea of a touch screen, im not a samsung fan really so probably wont get that, so its sony v cowon, cowon is ment to have very good sound and it has touch screen, sony make good mp3 players and ment to sound good aswell so im really stuck
 
Go with sony these days - well made and most importantly they sound "right"... another plus you get high end earphones with them so better value in the long run.
