Best MTV Unplugged Song?

No. Just...no.

Whats wrong with the acoustic version of Layla? I think its one of the better unplugged versions personally - like playing it too.

The thing about Layla, and I can appreciate it as a guitarist, but he took away the most defining part of that song (in its riff) in the acoustic interpretation of it.

Thats exactly why its better. The riff sucks. The unplugged version is pure blues, exactly what that song is, not the stupid 'rock' side to it. Besides, whenever I hear that riff it just makes me think of Vauxhall Cavaliers! ;)

Nirvana - man who sold the world (i like this version)

Awesome song...

Deftones / Incubus / Adam Sandler (Oo) - Be Quiet and Drive

Not sure if it unplugged but it was live @ MTV.

The riff for layla original sounds crap on an acoustic thats probably also why (in comparison). The whole point of a cover is to not sound like the original but maintain its core...the unplugged version contains the same elements as the electric version but not the riff, played in a shuffle style rhythm.

Each to his own though I guess :).

I like most of Claptons unplugged sesh including tears in heaven/layla etc and most of the Nirvana in new york one.

Im shocked no one has mentioned Tori! I really love the unplugged version of In The Springtime Of His Voodoo, and Caught a Lite Sneeze.

Nirvana's cover of man who sold the world is definitely not the best MTV unplugged song. It gets played so much on MTV2 and the other music channels.

Pretty difficult to choose a best song. Black by Pearl Jam was pretty good on MTV Unplugged as was pretty much all of the Alice In Chains set. Maybe best MTV Unplugged set would be a better question?

Alice in Chains - Nutshell

..actually all of this set - and the Pearl Jam one.

I've heard the nirvana ones far too much on mtv... especially man who sold the world. The amount it has been played probably has something to do with it's popularity in this thread.

The piano Part at the end of Layla is great, its the end of Goodfellas too :D

Best Lightinight Crashes by Live
Where did u sleep last night - Nirvana
Linger - The Cranberrys (but i just love that song)
Atlantic City - Bruce Springsteen (does this count cos its plugged?)
