Best Need for Speed?

Fat Rakoon: Yeah I know what you mean about the outrun challenges in NFS:U2. Really frustrating when you overtake them and then they turn off in a different direction, and you get punished for going the 'wrong way', even though you are the leader.

It's one of the reasons I never bothered going for 100% completion on NFS:U2, I completed the storyline, went back and did a bunch of races and then quit on 92%, or something like that.

NFS on the 3DO, best version ever!

Damn right and was one of the first games with real video cut scenes and they were great "cheesy" but great

the tracks were streamed of the disk in this game so you couldnt turn around and drive back down the track lol ahh the young days of 3D :D

but i am enjoying carbon atm so i'd say thats comes a close second

Im lost as to the number of bugs I keep coming up in with NFSU2

Just today, I chucked it onto another PC and I raced against the first boy-racer that I found, and ended up confusing him on that large round-about... He kept going round and round it, so after 2 runs around, I sodded off and he took too long to catch up, so naturally I won.

Funny thing however, is that even though I won, I still lsot money and the girls voice said that she is going off to spend my money????

The number of times that I have lost a race because of things like this is annoying, cos im bad enough at the bloody game as it is without being ripped off too!

Has to be Porsche 2000, it was an awesome game! Blasting down the Autobahn track in the Moby Dick, genius! I really liked the music in this game aswell, definately my most played NFS.
Second would be Hot Pursuit, this also had an awesome soundtrack and I really enjoyed playing through the whole game.

I'm not a fan of the current Fast & the Furious stylee games. I liked it when it was just pure supercars, not a modified car in sight!

Another vote for NFS Porsche 2000 / Unleashed here :)

It's just a shame that it doesn't work properly in XP with nvidia cards (or at least mine) - it runs but the car wheels and some other textures are very blocky. If anyone knows of a fix I'm all ears.

NFS:Road Challange.

The first game where I used manual gears. I could do the Celtic ruins track in the McLaren F1 (I think that was in it. Anyone confirm that?) in a stupidly quick time.. Well chuffed with myself.

Yes the McLaren was in it and I liked that game a lot too. It ran incredibly well on a Voodoo3, using Glide - putting today's games to shame.

Need for speed 3: hot pursuit. I played that for years, me and my friend modified the cars in the game, adding new cars and making them unbelievably quick, and we would play the atlanta level and see who could do the coolest jumps on the storm drains. We had actually perfected jumping doing a number of flips and landing on the wheels again.

LOL aah the memories! :) I still have the disc but wont play on XP :(

Oh dear, i actually happened to love NFS 2 SE, yes its old, but it was arcade styling racing done right, perhaps i only liked it because i was young though :\

Next to that, i loved porsche 2000 and hot pursuit 2, i found carbon and most wanted rubbish.

so ive not managed to get glide working properly yet, but all the sounds, music and showcase and everything work fine off the cd :)

Most wanted or Hot Pursuit

Hot Pursuit still makes happy today, stuff like the small details - police accents, and languages, and the police chases were awsome.

Most wanted is graphically the best i found and has some of hot pursuits gameplay

Hot pursuit and roadchallenge were early faves of the series which i enjoyed a lot and completed fully.

Hot pursuit 2 i found abit difficult after about 50% and havent finished yet, didnt really enjoy the tough/cheating ai much.

Underground 1 was a new look and didnt dislike it and finished 100%. Underground 2 was a shocker and 40% in I hate it so much. far too long a game and the ai cars always being higher spec then i can have annoys me greatly so ill never finish it.

Most wanted is a refreshing change and i love it, and possably the best of the series. Carbon fixes everything that was wrong in underground 2 and I enjoyed playing through the game and will continue too .

didnt play porche 2000 or high stakes, but after loosing a top unlockable car in roadchallenge to a m8 ..once . i dont think id have liked high stakes ;)
