Best on-line shoot-em up

I much prefer the cartoony sci-fi type shootemups like any in the Quake series. Realism or games that are made to be as realistic as possible don't do it for me. I don't want to see 'realistic' death throes / body parts / blood.

Quake with it's childish graphics and make believe weapons coupled with great game play does it for me... but hey whatever floats yer boat

Day of defeat source is my favourtie at the moment, although i do play in clans for this so i may be biased. The original dod was my favourite of all time but sadly not enough people play it now and anyway its time to move on.

I find CS 1.6 boring now but i did play that and previos versions for ages, CS:S in my opinion isnt very good at all compared to 1.6, but its horses for courses.

The dod community is growing and most servers unlike CS ones have a good atmosphere in them due to generally older people playing the game!!

i like BF2 but get annoyed by the constant deaths at the hand of vehicles, so annoying trying to have a decent shoot-out with other grunts just to get obliterated by a fighter plane, heli or tank.

maybe i should get the special forces add-on as that is meant to be more infantry focused.

For me personally my favourite fps has got to be RTCW 1.0!! I find the community great out there and i'm always meeting new people, there's constant clan wars with a few tournies :D There may not be as many people play it nowadays but i love it because you don't need a super fast computer to run it and also unlimited cfg tweaking ;) ;)

The gameplay, i love and with about 6 maps as standard + all the extra trickjump and editted maps you're never bored. I often find deathmatchs a bit boring but that's always a personal preference
