Best performance per £ competition

Have you tried Skyinsure?

The best thing about the GTO has got to be the punishment you can give them in the wet - even on rubbish tyres.

I have requested a call back as obviously they are closed. At least it looks like they might give a personalised quote rather than a computer readout :)

what about ma clio?! :D

£725, 137 bhp

0-60 7.5

ubers of fun

I can top that. Sold my old 140bhp Honda beast for 40 quid, still good for 7000 revs and all that goodness just needed a new door and a few other things but I had no space :(
Overall an old honda vtec has to be one of the cheapest fast cars a person can buy (& run) imo

House deposit, car musnt eat into that significantly.

3rd option is GTOTT insured as 3000GT, a lot of systems arnt very specific ;)

If we are talking performance per pound rather than power per pound then I think it would be hard to beat a decent Clio Williams. If your lucky you can pick up one quite cheap and they are seriously rated as a decent drive.

Mind you , Scoobies are becoming a good price now. A lot of car for a couple of grand.

did you try a soarer on insurance through sky? thats who im with...
I didnt actually. The soarer seems strangely hard to insure much like the GTOTT import.

I might do tomorrow actually, the only thing which puts me off the soarer is the very slight lack of performance, but i am sure that can be addressed :)

well i didnt comment yesterday, but i think someone mentioned they get to 100 mph in 17 seconds?

knock 2 off that... at least. and mine standard :)

EDIT : they don't really get going til around 70 mph really and top out at about 160 - 170 when delimited. You really should at least drive one anyway before discounting one because thay are really very quick. I think Lashout posted some videos on page 1 of a soarer on a drag strip - that one is actually a standard car from www.lexusclub.co.uk

I agree, i will :) Dont think i have discounted them. I need to have a drive anyway as i cant imagine what the digital dash is actually like when driving.

What realisitically would a Soarer TT run 0-100 and 1/4? The one on youtube doesnt have any visible times, but certainly looks pretty good.

well i have personally witnessed one from the club doing a 13.6 on the quarter mile, which involved a bit of auto box abuse and bag of cement in the boot. i got 14.4 on mine.

3000GT is the better car than the GTO TT. They have larger turbo's, less restricted exhausts as standard, and are much cheaper to insure being UK specified cars (despite still sharing 99% of parts with the import GTO's)

They're large, and heavy, though, but the 4WD gives it great grip for point + go ability. Maybe not the best for throwing down country roads, but still immense fun, and have good performance.

Simple mods (turning up boost, removing cat + free-flow filter) will give you quite a bit of power due to restrictive exhausts as standard.

Ramirez - Damn thats pretty good! I should definately give these things some time. I am guessing that the extra speed over book is down to them actually producing more than the 280bhp quoted?

ConfusedTA - i know :( A 3000GT is twice what a GTOTT costs though at the very least. Very annoying as i can insure a 3000GT for £800 straight up without any dodgyness.
