Best phone upgrade from HTC Desire......

I've possibly got an opportunity to change my phone soon by passing my HTC Desire on to my other half and wondered what the next best handset is??

Before anyone suggests it, I'd prefer to stick with Android so an iPhone is not an option! :p

Things I like about the Desire:
- Easily customised
- Nice screen
- Plenty of apps/games

Things I dont like about the Desire:
- Internal memory is shocking
- Not the fastest phone
- Poor camera

I've not kept up to date on phones since I got my Desire last year so I dont know what is generally regarded as the next best in the line! (eg. I've no idea how the Desire HD or the Desire S differ from mine for example!)

Any recommendations welcome......

Cheers....

Samsung Galaxy S2, check out the thread on these forums i dont have one myself (still a Desire) but the SGS2 looks like a damn fine phone!

I have made the move from Desire to Samsung Galaxy S2. 3 weeks on and I have found the phone to be a substantial upgrade.

It's between the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S2 for most.

Sensation has the better software and build quality

Galaxy S2 has the better camera, screen, battery life and i believe more internal storage.

1GB vs 16GB :p

I also think build quality is the wrong term to use, 'built with different and heavier materials' is more suitable as the quality is pretty much the same.

;)

Another vote for the SGS2, essentially the two reasons to pick the HTC Sensation over it are (as mentioned):

Software - Namely Sense, if that's your thing
'Build Quality' - Both are very solid phones, the Sensation uses some metal and weighs a chunk more so for some people it 'feels better built' but as said, both are solid.

There is also the screen, it's higher resolution but 'only' LCD so the lower res but Super AMOLED+ screen on the SGS2 is, in most reviews, the better option it seems.

The SGS2 wins on all other aspects :)

SGS2 has the superior GPU accelerated Android which is a lot smoother than the sensation when scrolling - HTC sense launcher overall is as pap as TW4.

Build quality is second only to the IP4.

the SGS2.

Aha, I agree. The build quality is much better than its being given credit for imo.

It's fine for simpletons like me who cba to bring up specs in different tabs. :D

Its wrong though and it ignores a lot of important things like screen types (LCD vs LED not worth mentioning?) and it states the Galaxy S II as having 32GB of memory when it actually has 16GB! There is no 32GB model as of yet.

This is better - http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3875&idPhone2=3621

Beaten! :(

Best... comparison site... ever!

Here's the latest Nena GPU benchmark results.
The Sensation is very competitive compared to Tegra 2 (not bad considering the extra resolution) but the SGS2...

Wow!

Thanks for all the replies guys!!

Following this thread (and the thread suggested in the top couple of posts) I've been looking at the Galaxy S2 and must admit it looks pretty good!!

I assume the "Super AMOLED+" screen is superior?? Must admit, one of the other things that bugs me about my Desire is that its rubbish in sunlight! Is the S2 better in this regard?

Other than this, the only other issue might be the size as it looks quite a bit larger!?! Although that comparison website mentioned above seems to suggest the S2 is slightly smaller than the standard Desire!?!?

Can anyone point me towards a decent deal for the S2? (if allowed - not sure where OCUK stand on mobiles!)

Thanks again guys........

The S2 is larger than the Desire (which is kind of iPhone 4 sized) - The screen is fine in sunlight but it won't be perfect on a cloudless summer day at the beach, no phone will :p
