This. Before I had access to the MM I tried selling a 7970 on Gumtree and I was offered a swap for a ford fiesta with no engine!

"How will I get it home if its got no engine?" I asked

"Oh yeah!" he replied :o

in all seriousness though Gumtree is a scary place to sell anything. Too many issue at that site. Ebay is best at least you'll be protected
 
Gumtrees actually not too bad for selling components. Though I did get offered... a cricket bat, in trade for a monitor. I kid you not.
 
I don't think there is anything better than Ebay (larger audience, often with less informed people willing to spend more). Recently sold my MSI 970s Gaming, one for 248£(extra mouse pad), the second one for 220£.
