Best Pub Quiz Questions (+ Answers)

Can't remember the exact way to phrase the question but it is something like this:

If a sundial is an instrument for measuring time with the fewest parts, what instrument has the most?

Answer is supposedly a sand timer thingy

There was one in our pub quiz last weekend - What are the two words that start and end with 'und'

There were some other good ones but I can't remember them :(

You have to read this question in a certain (First part slow, second part fast) way to give people hope that they know the answer and then dash their dreams of a point when you deliver the question in full..

Q. In the 2003 Rugby World Cup, who kicked...., sorry, took all the kicks for Australia in the Semi Final against New Zealand?

A. Elton Flatley

Name the four US states that begin with the letter 'I'

Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa. Which nicely leads to my suggestion:

How many states are there in the USA?

Technically there are only 46. Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts are all officially Commonwealths.

Theoretically, what's the lowest score you can get in snooker, and win the frame?

:D

26?

Player A pots all 15 reds without colours, then pots yellow & green, going in-off from the green giving a 4 point penalty to player B. He gets 20.

Player B pots the rest of the colours giving 26 with the foul.

Or player A breaks off then player B concedes the frame with player A having scored 0 points?

Also (i'm not certain this is the lowest possible score) but you can win with less than 26.

15 individual reds + yellow + green + brown = 24 with only 18 remaining

EDIT\\ Or lower still

Player A: 15 individual reds + black = 22
Player B: Yellow through Pink = 20

Player A wins with 22points

He misses the black, then the other player has to pot the colours but misses the black as well, so player 1 now pots the black

the black mysteriously disapears?

the black will be put back on its spot after being potted after the red wont it?

You misunderstood, i'll explain it slightly differently

Player A - 15 individual reds
Player B - Yellow through Pink
Player A - Black

Player A wins 22-20

Wow, didn't know that.

Well, I knew that a retailer isn't obliged to sell you something for whatever reason they like.... invitation to treat and all that malarkey. Didn't know that there was a limit to the amount of coppers you can use though. Learn something new every day.

It's actually to do with legal tender. The question was on University Challenge a couple of weeks ago, and just stuck in my head as being one of those random things that sometimes crops up in a pub quiz.
