Hi Guys,
I'm looking to take up road cycling.
What is the best road bike for £300ish.
My google skills have picked up the Triban 3.
Does anyone else have any other contenders or is this the one to go for?
Thanks

That's the cheapest road bike IMO, it's also pretty much all you need, what with 95% of the performance coming from the guy sat on it!
Other than that, have a look at 2nd hand as suggested by Stinger53
triban 3 for sure! had mine for a little over a month and love it! really feels like a quality bike!
That says "from £595" so it doesn't fit into my price range unfortunately.
I would be willing to go slightly higher for a big difference in quality but not that much higher.
All the reviews I have read have been very positive.
I just wanted to check if there was anything else out there before committing.
I'm not sure I like the idea of 2nd hand bike which I know is stupid. I just like shiny new things

No such thing new, I have linked the best inexpensive roadbike.
Thread should read "I'm going to buy a Triban 3 what do you think?"

Buy the Triban 3 then! /thread.
That Ribble is THE best entry level road bike full stop.

its double the price too? you sound a bit fanboy-ish..
i personally would go second hand.
Good grief! Fan boy??
I have owned Cannondales costing £2500.
That Ribble for the money is a great bike.
If you want the Decathalon bike buy the ******* thing and stop trolling.
Well OP has answered the question himself in the first post..
What's the point of posting on a forum if you already know the answer?
