Best RPG?

you dont need to play the first ones, each FF game is a different story. Each of the games follow a similiar idea/way of battling/summons (in some cases) and have cracking storylines.

got 8 off a friend. Then HAD to find 7, then got 9, 10, 10-2, now waiting on 12. Its an addiction :D
 
Oops forgot morrowind etc in my above list, still, as you can see the suggestion I made for Kotor has been echoed, so I'd really recommend that and Baldur's Gate2!
 
Dungeon siege 1/2 are probably the most annoying games out, not that i didn't complete them, its just as you level up so does everything else in proportion, you never really get anything out of completing it.

I've done the baldurs gate thing, probably spoiled it for myself the first time round by using cheats for drizzts etc.

Morrowind, done it.
Fable, played it on the xbox, really liked it, for the whole few hours the game lasted, I do know you can supposodly get married and such, but they didn't put much effort into it.

Planescape torment KOTOR and a few other ones ive never heard of will be bought.

forgot to mention warcraft, doesn't really make you want to play it again, but theyre all solid games.

What do you want? RPG or RTS? Looks like you have most of them in terms of RTS. If you have not played Warcraft III, get it, as well as the frozen throne expansion pack.

If you did actually mean RPG, then KOTOR as people have said, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Neverwinter Nights I and II, Fable.
 
Oblivion rules on the PC! enough said

FF12 (not the FFX-2 that was just silly) on PS2, the best ever....even perhaps better than FF10
 
Morrowind is kinda forgotten about now Obliv has been out for almost a year. But there are so many cool mods and updates and conversions out for it. Morrowind is a really great RPG.

Or Deus Ex 1/2 is pretty good too.
 
Fallout and Fallout 2 are some of the finest RPG's ever made in my opinion.

The only problem is they are ancient so if you are put off by old graphics then you may not enjoy them much (although the art was great for the time and still makes them playable now).

As already said System Shock 2 is another great FPS/RPG hybrid but again is getting on a bit.

For a more modern RPG i would go with Fable, its easy and short but its fun from start to end.
