ok, at some point i will be moving onto Vista x64 but to do that i also need to prepare my system for it. everything is done except my selection of how to order my hard drives.

currently i have:
2 x 500GB
1 x 250GB
1 x 150GB
and an external 250GB.

i like to keep things simple so i dont mess with partitions and such. its just plug it in and that HDD stores that. currently i use the 150, the 500s and the external for media. but with plenty of spare space. and the 250 holds the OS and software which atm is around 65% full.

when i eventually get around to installing vista i want to place it onto the 150 which will be purely for the OS. trying to reduce the amount of rubbish on it. the 250 will be used to store software and the remaining HDD's for media.

is that a good idea or not?
surely it should increase boot times?

whichever is your fastest drive have that for OS games and apps everything else goes on data drives.

Looking at your drives I would use the 150gb for the operating system.

Then use one of the other drives for all your folders such as my documents/pictures etc.
You can change this in Vista menu. The reason I like to do something like this is because if your main OS drive ever files or you have to rekick you are still going to have your files in tact. :)

Keep the rest of the drives for data :)
