Best soundtracks in a game

Quite a few on my list:

  • Halo
  • Total Annihilation – I love the combination of orchestral music with enormous armies of robots annihilating each other – very original :cool:
  • Final Fantasy X
  • Morrowind
  • Oblivion (not so much as Morrowind)
  • EVE Online
  • Halflife 2
  • Knytt :o :p

Got the wrong one there :P The final level with Ace of Spades on is pretty awesome.

Perhaps the score from Warcraft 3+ Frozen Throne? I do love the final scene, utter briliance.

Oblivion is pretty good as well and a vote for KOTOR2... cannot beat a bit of Star Wars

Forgot to mention NFSU, NFSU2 and NFSMW

The original Deus Ex opening credit music is the best game music ever!

I have it on my ipod. Shame that Deus Ex 2 messed about with it so much, hope it comes back in 3, actually that trailer for Deus Ex 3 sounded better than Deus Ex 2!
 
HL2 was very well done, FF7, MGS also did very well

or judging by the replies it seems you were talking about a music track, in which case you are all blind this is the ultimate game track

For cherry picked pop songs, GTA Vice City.

For a scored soundtrack, Total Annihilation, most epic battle music ever... I don't know why they bothered making new stuff for supreme commander, which isn't even a slither of what TAs was. Supcom + TA music mod = win.
