Best time for a GPU ?

So what's new then? I don't see where AMD come into it either. Nvidia do not need any excuse whatsoever to continue hiking prices beyond reason. So AMD not having any top end cards won't make any diofference and in any case 90% of people buy Nvidia blind every gen.

Nothing's new except for even higher prices, hence me saying even more.

Look, if you can't understand properly what people write, don't bother replying. You're clearly an AMD supporter, you're blinkered to the fact that they're equally as guilty as one another. You don't see where AMD come into it? Jesus wept.

Sadly the market is **** these days - as we all knows!
Sitting on my old 2060S, and what to do. Would love to have the 4080, as thats the only one in this gen that does it for me. But who the hell have the money. And wait to the 50 series feels awful. And we know it will still cost as much. Well best thing to do is try to find a pre owned down the road!
Hate these bloody times!

They're not equally as guilty though, the performance/price proves that.

AMD faster and cheaper at every single price point and with more VRAM...

;)

Funny how your original post has come up when quoting you, not sure if it'll still show when I've posted this :D

Anyway your original post confirms it, you're an AMD fan. So there's no talking to you. If you need an explanation as to why both are equally as guilty, I'll let someone else do that. I can't be arsed.

I thought i'd educate you as to why they're not as bad as each other this gen, and it's not even close either. So I updated my post. You can't explain why they're both as bad as each other, that's why up haven't bothered mate. The only response you have is to reach for the fanboy card. Pretty typical of what happens when someone who has made their mind up, is confronted with the facts.

I am an AMD fan at the moment because they produce the better GPU's at lower prices, and they have been for years!

:D

Okay, I'll explain. And this will be my last word on it. It's quite simple, although you may still have difficulty grasping it.

What they are both doing is the same is JACKING UP PRICES AND LIMITING STOCK. It doesn't matter to what extent that is, whether one is doing it to a greater extent than the other, they are both doing the same thing.

I thought I'd educate you seeing as you appear to not be able to grasp simple facts. I put the important bit in capitals to help you along.

So go away and play with your AMD hardware and get excited about that. I've explained it now so any further reply is just you trying to score poiints and have the last word. Be that child if you must, but you'll not be doing this thread any good. You think one thing, I think the other. Grow up and deal with it.

The right time to buy is when you can find a significant performance increase over your current card at a pricepoint within your budget.

+1

Or when you NEED a more powerful GPU to run a specific game/app you regularly use.

Too many people are throwing money away chasing performance/fidelity unnecessarily IMO.

Same as anything, I once bought a clothes iron for £40, several months later I saw it on sale with vouchers and cashback for about £25.. it's how it goes.

Don't think AMD or Nvidia, just think what your budget is in comparison to your personal expectations... for gaming it's simply price v's frame rate at intened resolution... and shoot your shot, and don't check prices for at least another 6 months ;)

My last 2 cards were AMD, and the two previous to that were Nvidia...before that I can hardly remember, a mixture of both.

I have no brand loyaly whatsoever, I buy what's best for my budget at the time, paired sensibly with CPU for a balanced system.

And you appear not to be able to grasp the simple fact that AMD are cheaper and faster all the way down the stack - therefore not as bad. It's a very simple concept.

"Go away and play with your AMD hardware" - Please grow up.

I'll reply if I want and your silly attmept at "framing" my reply in advance is simply trolling. Feel free not to reply, that's your choice, but it's my choice not yours if I decide to respond or not.

"Be that child if you must" - LMAO. Oh the irony...:D

Stick to what you claimed and let this be your last word on it.

Handing NVidia licence to charge even more for flagship cards. Great, not.

A generator attached to my eyeballs could solve the UK's energy problems.

In one sentence you lust for Nvidia flagship cards, loathe Nvidia flagship card pricing and blame AMD for it.

This is what victory looks like. What's wrong with the losers saying they can't see profit in a flagship war with the 80% market share company. The loudest complaints are from the ones that don't support them which is weird isn't it.
