Best TV Series and Movie in 2024?

Definitely made an impact/statement and was different to the dirge of superhero/multiverse stuff that seems to be dominating.

TV shows i watched:

The Gentlemen
Slow Horses S4
Fallout
Silo S2
The Penguin
The Boys S4
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
Daryl S2
Cobra Kai S6
Agatha All Along
3 Body Problem

Tough call, but probably The Gentlemen for me.

Movies i watched:

The Substance
The Fall Guy
Late night with the Devil
Deadpool vs Wolverine
Salem's Lot
A Quiet Place 3
Abigail
Smile 2
Bad Boys Ride or Die

Quite a crap year for movies, but The Substance for new and fresh, plus equally disturbing. Deadpool a close second - sucker for superhero movies :)

Still got Alien, Beetlejuice, Nosferatu, Venom and Wicked to see :(
 
I watched a lot in 2024 but film wise I can't remember much!

TV Shows:
1. Shogun without a doubt.
2. Landman - the show has just begun but it is brilliant so far.
3. Shrinking - AppleTV+'s shows just keep on impressing and this is absolutely stellar.

Films:
1. Abigail made me LOL the most with its brilliant cast and their comedic moments.
2. Bad Boys Ride or Die - I didn't expect this to be anywhere near as good as it was given I can't remember the previous film.
3. Godzilla XxXX Kong X - My favourite spikeyboi baltimooring every bridge in sight whilst doing swandives and suplexes! I loved this film :)
 
Now that you all have mentioned Substance, I might switch to this movie, it was definitely intriguing and different...
 
tv show- Clarksons farm S3. i cant believe no one else has mentioned this, it shows that there is a serious lack of taste on these forums!

as for films, i dont think ive watched a single 2024 release. its just low quality tat coming from Hollywood these days.
 
Might need to rethink my best TV show of 2024. Currently 5 episodes of 7 of Squid Games 2 - its very good!!

I wasn't sure how they would follow on, but they have made a story around the games while still giving us the mayhem and killing of the games themselves.

It's tension building!!

Really tough to pick a TV show as there were plenty of great ones this year. But for me, Shogun just edges Fallout & The Penguin for the win.

For movies, Dune II is the clear and obvious choice.
 
Haven't really watched any films that came out this year but for TV show it would have to be Shogun, with honourable mentions to Arcane and The Penguin.

Watched a lot of movies but nothing of note from 2024, I normally wait until they drop in price and pick them up on Apple iTunes.

TV Series : From - Really good tv show which kept me wanting the next episode. Closely followed by Landman, Lioness and Shogun
Film: New Lord of the rings film
 
Shogun for me as well for TV. Easily the best I reckon.

I go watch a lot of films and can’t think of any stand outs. I did enjoy due to the mind games was Juror #2. The Count of Monte-Cristo was good even if it’s been done before.

Thought Gladiator II and Dune II were dire tbh
 
TV series - Ripley.

Film - Civil War, I didn’t really watch many films released in 2024, but this was a standout to me.

The Substance was also great but the last 20 mins or so brought it down a bit.
