Yep using W7 64bit pro here. Dont need anything fancy. Infact I did also used to use the K-Lite Codec too!
Is Shark007 something more recent to CCCP/Klite?
I would have agreed with Shark007, but I really take issue with the way in which it stealthily installs the blasted Ask toolbar - having no choice to decline is bad enough, but the installer doesn't even tell you what's going to happen, unless you comb through the small print in the EULA (which is very long, and appears in a small scrollable window).
I appreciate that the developer wants to make a living, but this is just malware-type behaviour in my opinion... he has in fact published a registry fix on his forum which will prevent the Ask bar from installing (and another one for the similarly obnoxious Bing bar), but I don't suppose most people will even realise it's necessary until after the event.
There is *no* option to decline the Ask bar, unless it's been added sometime in the last few days, possibly in response to the comments here. There is a tick box to select not to install any bars. I installed the latest Shark007 codecs the other day, and it's easy enough to untick a small box.
I don't understand why people feel the need to complain about having about to untick one small box in an installation. You don't need to read any text, it's at the bottom of the windows, above the next button on the installation.

It's not even the lack of choice which is the main issue, it's the fact that the Ask installation doesn't clearly announce its presence.
Oh I agree - the Shark007 pack does (or did) give the lie to the popular "all codec packs are evil, m'kay" viewpoint. That just makes it all the more disappointing that the developer has chosen this method of pursuing a revenue stream, and doesn't even seem apologetic for it.Still doesn't detract from them being good codecs in my opinion![]()
