Best video doorbell....

Does anyone else seem to have a problem with spiders on the cameras at night? I'm forever wiping away spiders and their webs when they're setting off the person detection alarm at night
They're attracted to the infra heat iirc. You can get anti spider spray I'm sure.

I have a Blurams video doorbell.
£69 on the rainforest, have other blurams products, babycam, and IR Outdoor camera.
The others have been tip top, no problems whatsoever but the doorbell camera keeps fogging up after rain.
Have been on to support but they have none in stock anywhere at the moment.
Anyone else have the Blurams door bell camera?.

Our Ring 3 went up after purchase in Black Friday, so we're about 9 months in and we're very happy with it.

The first month or so was spent getting used to it and defining the zones for the camera to cover, but since tuning that, it only alerts if someone walks onto the garden and cars can pass out in the road without detection.

The battery needs a charge about once every 7 weeks, but it emails me the alert at 30% charge which is at least another week's worth of use and it's a 2 minute job to remove the battery, though an overnight charge does mean a night without coverage.

I do hope it doesn't go kaput because it's been rock solid since installation.

One thing that puzzles me is that our usual Royal mail delivery and evri delivery drivers, who are friendly enough, firstly bang on the door, then 5 seconds later rattle the letterbox, then 5 seconds later press the Ring doorbell that is right in front of them?

Having had the Ring and now the Reolink I can confirm that Royal Mail are very afraid of video doorbells, which I suspect records the fact they are there at 11:21, when the office is being informed it is 17:59 ;)

Haha I suspected they were reluctant to be recorded :) It starts recording before they press the button anyway!

Not sure why the spray didn't cross my mind if I'm honest, I should have known there would be something to spray!
Citrus juice, or rub a lemon on it avoiding the lens of course..
Will try this if the spray doesn't work, or maybe as well as... Who knows, nice to know it isn't just me that has the problem though.

Thanks for the responses

any recommendations for a mechanical chime with a built-in transformer? my current one is 6v so a lot of video doorbells wouldn't work. ideally I want a 12-24v chime

Can you not install one of these to have a video doorbell instead YAYZA! LED Driver 24V 30W, 240V to 24V Transformer, IP44 1.25A Low Voltage Power Supply, AC to DC Adapter, Constant Voltage for LED Strip Lights and Cabinet Lights, LED Bulbs, Ring Doorbell https://amzn.eu/d/eFP0T8z

All I can state is my neighbours have one fitted to their ring doorbell and there are no issues with it. This is the power supply specs for a Ring wired doorbell
- DIN Rail Transformer (24Vdc, 420mA)
- Plug-In Adapter (24Vdc, 500mA)

And the specs for the Reolink doorbell:

Hardwired

12-24VAC 50/60Hz, DC 24V

ah i missed the part it also accepts 24v DC, that certainly makes it easier.

Well I just bit the bullet and paid another £25 for a spare Ring doorbell battery. Picking it up from Screwfix later.

This means that instead of being without coverage for an overnight charge once every 7 weeks, I can simply swap the flat battery for a charged one.

I initially thought 2 batteries were overkill but that one night without coverage has been bugging me and it's sod's law that if something were to happen it would be in that night.

When I get the alert to charge my RING I can normally go another week with it.

You still need to take it off to charge at some point though!

I ended up going with the Eufy battery one in the end, which is fine (have the same issue with charging, but since I WFH it's not so bad as I can see the front drive anyway, so just stick it on to charge during the day) but I might change to a Reolink wired so I can use it in Home Assistant :p

Anybody have an Ezviz doorbell?

Having trouble answering the call, the push notification pops up on Android, tapping it opens the app but pressing the green answer button doesn’t work, it’s as if the app is semi-crashing.

I di dit about 7am in the morning and it takesabout 4 hours, perhaps less, it was no trouble.
I've now got the wired WiFi Reolink doorbell which isn't any problem now.

Anyone wired the Google Nest outdoor camera? I understand it’s just a usb/phone charger jobby.

We have a porch light and the switch for that is directly above the porch in the front bedroom (just above the skirting). There’s a plug socket about a foot away on the other wall.

Could an electrician run the power cable up through the same “hole” as the switch and round the corner/under the floor to the plug socket? How would he make it neat?

Which exact device? Naming scheme is poop!
