Best video doorbell....

What's the deal with video doorbells these days , are Ring still the best?

I don't like subscribing for functionality of something i've bought, which puts me off ring a little.

Are Eufy any better? They don't seem to have a subscription and appear to be generally cheaper.

There's also Blink and Reolink , A bit spoilt for choice as all manufacturers seem to do many different options.

I'd like something that can display the doorbell image on a screen when it rings too, not just a smart device, are any of them better for this?

Any recommendations / ones to stay away from?

I had a ring and wouldn’t pay the sub. Annoyed me having to charge the battery so bought a eufy and a 5m cable and ran it to nearest plug.
Much happier, interfaces are all similar.

Our ring was rubbish would be 50/50 on whether it would pick up someone stood in front of it.
Replaced it with a Aosu model from Amazon about 6 weeks ago, no sub to pay and picks up absolutely everything.

Ring would just pick up everything, regardless of settings.
Dumped and went with Reolink. Not checked if can be displayed instantly on a big screen but can check back footage on PC monitor.

I've got the Ring one but dumping it soon because of their subscription model. Thinking of the Eufy dual camera model so I can check the footwear of my delivery woman :D.

I installed a ReoLink this time last year, worth every penny, sent with the WiFi version and powered it via the old bell wire and transformer.

I have it auto uploading via FTP to my home server and a 64gb SD card installed.

AJAX announced their first video doorbell this week, out next year.

Might be time to finally upgrade my trusty old original Nest if the AJAX one is any good.

Wireless data, but powered, so can use the same low voltage cable I ran to the Nest. But records everything locally on the AJAX NVR (supply your own massive HDD), so no subscription.

EDIT: It seems it's hybrid local recording and cloud, so will have to see about subscription. I guess maybe cloud for certain alerts, but 24/7 recording locally?

I hadn't seen this master thread so thanks to whoever merged them.

It would appear from a quick search that it went up to £49.99 for a basic plan in March.

I could see this coming when it went from £24.99 to £34.99 and am glad I dropped them then.

This is one of my main concerns with Ring, that you're tied in and they can do whatever they like with prices, dump them, and you're left with a paperweight.

Eufy / Reolink seem to be getting a lot of positive comments lately.

For those with Eufy , Which model do you have, and how do you manage storage, do you have to get the home-base and add your own hard-disk?

How do you access recordings off-site, still through an app? Is there any option to upload to your own cloud drive?

Reolink are excellent - can also record to their NVR
I have an Ezviz (Hikvision) DB1C, which has been great for the past 3 years.
Will replace it with either the v2 or the wired Relink as soon as funds allow.

I've used eufy for 4 years and tried a ring for a week before sending it back, even tho it had seamless integration.

Eufy is fine but their Google home integration is terrible, too slow to use properly to screen visitors on smart displays the apps are not exactly fast too but no subscription is a complete winner.

They have released new model(s) since and a new "homebase," which manages all the recordings and acts as a dingdong :p ( because it won't set up to a smart speaker even tho they promised it since release) even after Google allowed free competition access to the API nothing has been done... It's my only real major gripe.

Just ordered the eufy Security Video Doorbell E340 with the chime that you can insert SD card into for storage £95 all in

I like the dual camera as well having looked at plenty of reviews the app has plenty of customisation

Wanted one that could be powered by wires if the battery life wasn't good also the battery is quick release so can get spare and just swap
