Hi,

I'm thinking of running my own game server. I was wondering which is the best voice comms provider?

The choices are:

Mohawk
Teamspeak 2
Teamspeak 3
Ventrilo

Thanks in advance

In that case, TS3.

Still, you're better off running a mumble server from home with dyndns :)

*or rather, Murmur server, before anyone gets pedantic all up in this hizle

Used to use TS2 before moving upto vent. TS2 sounds like garbage now whenever im forced to use it so i try to avoid it. Never tried TS3 or mumbles so cant help there.

Last time i tried Mumble it was very poor, about 6 or so of us all connected and we were not impressed (was using TS2 at the time). Now use TS3 which is great, ask the server provider if you can "demo" the options, i'm sure they will let you "try before you buy" my money would be on TS3 or Vent.

Used to use TS, changed to Vent, never had any need change since.

This.

Though not used TS for a while. We only have a choice of TS and Vent with our GSP* and Vent just seemed better when we where setting it all up.

TS seems to have had a major update recently and I wouldn't mind trying it out but can't be arsed to go through the pain of getting the clan to switch to it and the inevitable teething problems that they'll have.

Did see that Dolby have entered the market recently and I'd be really interested to see what that is like. Anyone tried it yet?

(* edit: tell a lie, it seems they do offer Mumble as well. But see comment re: switching clan over.)

Used Ventrilo for over 3 years but since we got our BC2 server we all decided to give TS3 a try. Got to say from an admin and user point of view it is packed with features that are streets ahead of Vent. It does all that vent does plus loads more and the new codecs are slightly better imho

Cant speak for Mumble or Mowhak as not used them
