Best way to dispose of mattress?

if its a single, give it a go trying to get in your car... they fold in half easier than you think.

Put it in someone elses skip.

Or put it in a Citroen 2CV. Then in someone elses skip.

This. But in the middle of the night. Get a mate to come round and help you do it. Make as much noise as you can trying to get the rolled and taped up mattress to the back of your car. Make sure a neighbour sees and calls the police. When police arrive, run for it. The one who remains uncuffed the longest wins.

Have you not got a sharp instrument (saw, machette, chainsaw etc) so that you can just hack it to pieces? As said, if you get in half that should be more than enough to get into a car if you can't already ram it in.

What about your local council place ? Ours take them but your limited to one a year i think.

I have done this last month:

Cut it open and remove all fabrics and dispose them in ur normal bin - so you are just left with the metal springs. - sold the metal to my local scrap dealer for £5

I'm re-decorating my entire room so need to dispose of my desk and TV stand, so i think i'll just post it on FreeCycle.

I'm sure someone will want them.

Put it outside with a sign on it saying "Matress for sale £20" Guaranteed it'll be nicked within a day or so.
