Without going in an ambulance :)

I have an apointment there in a few weeks and I will be arriving at Central Station by train and so from there I need help getting to the hospital quickly without it costing me a small fortune.

Thanks in advance

I called you an idiot? I don't remember that or why I would have reason to

Hmm, I am sure it was one of the shoe people who said it but never mind and I was being silly anyway. This link should see you right although a taxi from Central to the Freeman is only a couple of miles and shouldn't break the bank.

If memory serves, I think the Freeman is on a couple of sites so check the address you need to get to.

Cheers lol, I'm northern too ya know ;)

I'm still at a loss as to why I would have called anybody an idiot let alone Von , It's not like me to call anybody names unless it's banter

I'm guessing a taxi will be £15+ going by the rates over here as it's about 3 miles each way

I'll have to have a look into the bus and metro routes

<10 quid in a taxi depending on time of arrival in central.

Also Cumbria may as well be scottish :p

Nah we're definitely not Scottish :)

I'd need a taxi there and back each visit which would end up costing loads

I'm looking at some bus routes but tbh I only know one or two places in NCL so it's pretty slow going, thats why I requested help :)

It may be an idea to jump on the metro in central station to get you a bit closer to the freeman.

If I remember the haymarket metro is about 300m away.

That's the RVI?

Only time I ever went I got metro to Longbenton, then walked through bedlam and inland revenue traffic round some big road. Then I got a taxi back to the General Hospital where my interview actually was

Come out of Central Station, and cross all of the roads directly in front of you. You will be pretty much outside a Greggs with the Thistle hotel to your right. Walk to the right, and follow the road around a left bend. At the set of traffic lights, turn left. Just across the road from where you are is a bus stop, and you want the 38 which goes to Freeman Hospital. The 38 stops right outside Central Station on its return route. At peak times it is every 10 mins, ever 20 evening and sundays. A day ticket is £3.30. Here's the timetable for your reference http://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetables/Cn38d20.pdf

When I was at the RVI the receptionists were ordering taxis to take patients home if you asked them, I think it's a service they do. You could check if the Freeman will order one to pick you up as well. I'm not sure of the cost, it may be free, but they also it may not be.
