Best Windows Ever ?

i'v only ever properly used XP.
Had the odd look at other peoples puters running 95/98 and i'v had a little play with vista, but not enough experiance to say which is best.

XP imo.... used 95, 98, 98se, ME, 2000...... and had a little play on Vista, just seems hit and miss to wether it will run well at the moment, much like XP originally was for a lot of people.

XP is the best windows operating system I've used. Although I didn't really get down and dirty with windows 95 and NT as they were a bit before my interest with PC's.

XP. Fantastic driver support, very stable, consistent UI and lasted a very long time before being replaced by Microsoft. I've experienced more blue screens and crashes in the month I used Vista than I did in five years with XP.

Win2k was the first time MS ever released a stable OS with propper support and usability for a home user ... and it was a business OS! I've owned/used every version of windows with the exception of Me since 3.1 but it was the first time I ever felt I got value for money. XP was more of the same.

I would say XP because it hasn't given me too many problems, but arguably I turn so much off it's not that different to using 2000.
As long as it's not ME I pretty much happy ;)

Used them all since 3.0 - (apart from ME - dodged a bullet there :D ) Have to say 98 SE was awesome, but XP sp2 was without a doubt the best for me.

I could have wrote that.

The problem with 3.0 and 3.11 was that it was easier sometimes to boot into DOS and do things from there, especially games and the odd word processing.
You could see that this windows would catch on especially when I got Corel Draw 3 on 30 floppies and Win 3.11 only came on 6 floppies.
Because 98SE was so good it must have been at least a year before I decided to go XP when I built a new machine and I can honestly see it being at least a year before I try Vista.

I have to go with the one I'm using now - XP. If there was a better OS that ran well on my hardware I'd be using it now. Perhaps if I had a faster PC I'd say Vista, as I do use it on some other systems and love it, but for now XP gets the thumbs up
