how can people remeber 98 so well, it was terriable. Remeber when me and a fewm ates had lan partys we had to reboot before every game and someone normally still crashed.

As soon as we all went win2k problems dissappeared (although half-life didn't run well before a few patches)

I agree, I don't understand the nostalgia with 98, it was awful and I loved the upgrade to 2000.

started on 98se, tried ME (how bad was that!!!) but i gota say that since installing XP i've never had such a smooth running machine.

P.S trying vista on dual boot atm, i can see me liking it a lot it seems to be running quite smoothly atm, but i'm not ready to divorce XP just yet :)

ive used windows 3.0, 3.11, 95, 98, NT, ME, 2000, XP, xp64bit, server 2003, vista

for me its vista>xp>2000>2003>xp 64bit>ME>NT>98>95>3.11>3.0

Not sure about your placing of 2003 or NT4 in that equation.

Indeed. If you are comparing server software Windows Server 2003 is about 5000000 million trillion billion times better than Server 2000.

Personally I don't see how you can compare XP, 95, ME to server software such as NT, 2003 etc. They are very different in there role on hardware.

im just going by what my needs was to the software i needed.. yes 2003 is better then 2000 but i only use 6 server softwares that will run on xp, 2003, 2000, NT. i found windows 2000 ran them better

2000 has pretty basic thread scheduling behaviour compared to 2003. If your server has modern processors (multi core or hyper threading) then you will want to be running it on 2003.

XP all the way.

Was such a difference when it was released.

I've gone through windows 3.11 all the way up (although yet to experience Vista - lets wait for it to become useable first)
