Last Couple of nights I have been slowly ploughing through a James Bond DVD box set (one film a night at a time)

Classic debate with friends that I always get is which bond movie is best.. which we can never come to an agreement

....and which one is worst?

Best: goldfinger, mainly because its the first bond movie I saw, and its sean connery at his prime. The outlandish 'iconography' what makes it great

Worst: moonraker, its funny to watch because of the corny special effects and jaws, but it does not work as a proper movie

wondering if you think different?

I think this thread has been done before but whatever I'll bite.

Worst: A View to a Kill - other than Christopher Walkens character which was a 10/10 the movie was otherwise awful, although I generally liked Roger Moore's James Bond, and A Spy Who Lived Me, probably my second best ever James Bond movie, the opening scene being iconic and Carly Simon did a great theme song.

Best: Goldeneye - It's gotta be. Just an overall great movie, Pierce Brosnan was great, Tina Turner with a belter of a theme tune.

Bond to me was, gadgets, girls, exotic locations and the smooth, but deadly Bond who had some funny and cutting comments. So aside from Casino Royale, i think the Daniel Craig movies are ranked amongst the worst - he turned Bond into Jason Bourne and any other generic spy movie.

Best: Goldfinger, Goldeneye, Spy who loved me, Licence to Kill and OHMSS.

I don't like Daniel Craig's face, too ugly for bond! His worse film was probably the last one, bone with family, nope!
Best for me would probably be from Russia with love or goldfinger.
I also have a lot of affection for the Roger Moore bonds, because I enjoyed them as a child. Really liked Jaws as a character.

Agreed on VTAK, Moore was too old for Bond by then.

Best is Goldfinger.

I’ve a real soft spot for Moore’s Bond. I loved the sheer fun of those films. Live and Let Die is my favourite as in my eyes it encapsulates everything I think Bond should be about. And I always loved the JW Pepper character - “A secret agent?!? On who’s side?!?” :D

Worst ones are the Daniel Craig bunch. DC is a great actor but the character was a humourless, boring and dull person. A breeze block has more personality. Even the bad guys were dull.

It's been interesting seeing the shift over time: from people disliking the 'dated cheese' and preferring the more serious Daniel Craig soft reboot (after the Die Another Day backlash), to almost the other way around.

Do many people still think Casino Royale (Daniel Craig... not the spoof film!) is the best one? That was clearly the favourite Bond film on here for a long time, but now I'm not sure. I've never really liked the Daniel Craig films... they were OK, but a bit 'stuffy'. They clearly haven't left a lasting impression on me as I can't really remember them, nor can I be bothered to rewatch them.

Hard to say a favourite but for the worst I'd say Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies and Quantum of Solace as the worst of the recent ones. The rest blur together as a cheese fest :D

Got to love that fight music in the earlier films... duh-duh-duh, duh-duh, duh, duh-duh, duuUUUUuuuurrr nerrrr!

I personally thought Spectre was total rubbish, didn't even contain the charm that redeems the older rubbish movies.

I grew up with Brosnan so my favourite by far is Mrs Doubtfire. The cosmopolitan switch from from Aston to Benz, the trans antagonist and single mother bond girl were all really positive moves that I think we can all agree brought the franchise up to date for modern audiences.

die another day is surely the worst right?

No time to die trumps the lot for the worst.

As for the best, I think I'd struggle to pick - but could safely say they wouldn't be the Daniel Craig era. I didn't mind some of his films, but they just don't rate compared to the old ones.

For me personally i think a few tie for being the best: Goldfinger/License to Kill/Casino Royal are all top tier imo. Worst would be a toss between the latest one/Die another day/You only live twice - side note, I couldn't stand Brosnan as Bond :p

I saw him first in Remington Steele and immediately thought he'd be a great Bond. He was in Goldeneye - great Bond movie, but the rest never rose to the same level.

"And i thought Christmas only comes once a year" - eeeeeeeek!
