Best/Worst Bond Movie

Best. Timothy Dalton films.
Worst. Roger Moore films.

Mmmmm, too vague to clump RM into worst. The Spy who Loved Me has one of the greatest Bond openings ever!!

Also RM's Bond had the Lotus Esprit, Jaws, Louisiana Speedboat Chase, Duel with Scaramanga, Golden Gate bridge fight, Rolex Submariner, Wrist Dart Gun, Laser pistols, the Bondola(!), and of course, the fake nipple :)

Some great moments and memories watching RM as Bond as a kid with family at Xmas etc :)

Like Brosnan, seeing RM in The Saint and some other stuff, it was obvious he would make a great Bond.

I think you’ve forgotten about this gem

I remember that well when we saw it in the cinema, so cringe.

Difficult to give a favourite, but licence to kill is up there for me. Loved the dalton films, although they were too gritty for audiences at the time.

Worst, quantum of solace, die another day.

I just didn’t like the ‘campness’ of the Roger Moore Bond films and as much as I liked Connery as Bond, Timothy Daltons short tenure did it for me.

worst

on her majesty's secret service ( the one with Lazenby )

best

goldfinger

There were quite a few stinkers though, the living daylights was on yesterday and the scene where you can hear Bond slapping Moneypennys butt is particularly cringe worthy.

I can't say there are too many Bond movies i haven't enjoyed. Recently I really liked Skyfall, of the older stuff Goldfinger and Thunderball were excellent.
Bond to me was, gadgets, girls, exotic locations and the smooth, but deadly Bond who had some funny and cutting comments. So aside from Casino Royale, i think the Daniel Craig movies are ranked amongst the worst - he turned Bond into Jason Bourne and any other generic spy movie.
The producers turned the style more to the likes of Bourne because that's what audiences wanted. The franchise had to be kept relevant. I've watched a couple of the older ones with my eldest daughter who is 20 and she was frankly disgusted at the sexism and misogyny. I even tried to explain that it was considered ok in the 70/80s but to no avail. They made the more recent ones slightly less formulaic which I like and I also like the character development with DC. Moore and Connery were basically the same in all their movies, no character progress and true to the way the original books were written.

It's been a long time since I saw most of them, but pleased to see Die Another Day getting brought up as the worst a lot: that one was ******* terrible!

I do recall opting to see Sweet Home Alabama at the cinema instead of it, to the amusement of friends but, once I saw the Bond on TV a couple of years later, I definitely don't regret that decision. Like a bit of Reese Witherspoon :D

Best
Live and Let Die. One of the best bond themes, boat chases, Sherriff J W Pepper and the stunning Jane Seymour.
A View to a Kill. Snowjob Score, Golden Gate Bridge and Chrisopher Walken. I know he was getting on a bit but the other parts make up for it. The criticism it gets is a bit unfair.

Worst
Any of Daniel Craig's, just doesn't do it for me as bond.

Honourable mention
The Living Daylights & Licence to Kill. Tbh I need to see these two again as my memory is a bit hazy but remember Timothy Dalton being an excellent Bond.

Worst Bond movie. A View to a Kill. What a load of rubbish. Roger Moore could have just phoned in his lines. He was terrible in it.

Best Bond Movie. Can't decide on just one. My favourite Bond was Sean Connery and think the best Bonds movies were the ones he starred in. GoldFinger, Dr. No and From Russia With Love been some of the best.

Roger Moore was my least Favourite Bond.

Always a great debate! :)

My favourite (tied with Dalton films): On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Opening sequence and score, gives me goosebumps. Diana Rigg is Mrs Bond.

Best Bond Movie: Dalton, both films. Dalton was considered for the role for OHMSS but ruled himself out as too young. OHMSS with Dalton, and the series afterwards would have been very different.

Connery: From Russia With Love. Connery and Shaw, just brilliant.
Moore: For Your Eyes Only. Although I love Moore Bond films (except Moonraker). A View to a Kill would have been good with Dalton.
Brosnan: Golden Eye and Tomorrow Never Dies. The rest are awful.
Craig: Casino Royale. Really had high hopes as the series goes back to basics with the omnipresent Spectre. The series just gets worse with vanity/ego's creeping in.

Worst: Die Another Day and No Time to Die.

@GlitterBalls I still think its an epic opener, sadly an over complicated plot, a weedy bad guy. Has some great scenes though (the opera house?)

I would like to see a series reboot, albeit set in the fifties, drives a Bentley, scar on the cheek, cold and ruthless killer (filmed in Black and White). :o

A relatively unpopular opinion, but I do agree with you about OHMSS, I think it’s great.

Can't pin point a favourite probably mainly because of nostalgia , really like all the Brosnan ones except Die Another Day. Craig's Casino Royale was really good but don't really like any of his others. Licence to Kill is great and for some of the earlier ones, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, Golden Gun.

I enjoyed most growing up so probably couldn’t pick a best. I initially didn’t like Diamonds are Forever but it really grew on me later in life same with Live and Let Die. Also You Only Live Twice, Man with the Golden Gun and Moonraker were fun.

Worst well I can’t really remember much about Die and other Day but Quantum of Solace was utter drivel.

Best Bond Film: From Russia with Love
Best Bond Villain: Goldfinger
Best Bond Henchman: Oddjob
Best Bond Girl: Daniela Bianchi
Best Bond Gadget: Fag missile, YOLT
Best Bond Title Music: You Only Live Twice
Best Bond Bond: Sean Connery
Best Bond Bond Bond Bond: Brian Butterfield, call now.
Best Bond Arse Slap: Margaret Nolan, Goldfinger.

Best film is a toss up between FRWL and GF, but FRWL edges it for me because it is more of a proper spy film where Bond does actually spy stuff.

I'd agree that the worst Bond film is Die Another Day, most of the above categories could be filled from this film. Especially the ridiculous invisible car.

On Her Majesties Secret Service is my absolute favorite. As much as I like others, this stands on it's own as a truly great movie and a real all timer.

Quantam of Solace is pretty awful but there's quite a few I genuinely dislike.
