Better than an iPad?

My wife has an ipad3, I have an Asus tf300t, I can rip videos direct from YouTube, then transfer them wirelessly to either my PC, PS3 or my sgs2... it plays any video format I throw at it and adding mp3 is as simple as drag and drop, again, wirelessly and without the need for any extra software on my PC.....
On top of that it cost the same as my wife's 16gb ipad3, but has twice the storage space and came with a keyboard dock that also doubles as a battery, nearly doubling the tablets battery life, it has a micro SD slot allowing even more storage space and the dock also has an SD slot and full USB port...

As an internet/media device, I think the Asus wins hands down, games and apps are not as polished but are cheaper and getting better all the time.

This... the whole iPad vs Android tablet is a minefield .

I prefer Android over iOS though, iOS felt too limiting and not as flexible as Android.

I have a nexus 7 and ipad 3, i prefer the nexus, its lighter, its better for what I use it for. The ipad is technically a better bit of kit, it just depends what you use them for.

Curious about this. What DO you use it for?

I also own a iPad 3 and did consider the Nexus at release. Just not sure I'd get used to the smaller lower resolution screen for internet browsing and videos.

asus are busting out some awesome tabs atm. I have an asus transformer prime (tf201) and tbh its frigging awesome the screen is amazing much better in bright light than ipad 2. Tbh the only bad things are the screens get dirty easily and it doesnt have 3g. The best thing though is the keyboard dock it comes with, i ended up writing half of my uni dissatation on it when my laptop broke its almost full size something like 98%.

Don't forget the Kindle Fire, finally getting a UK release this year.

I just sold my iPad 1 as I really want a 7" (a 10" tablet is just not portable enough for my liking) and I really liked the Nexus 7 when I had a chance to play with it. I'm waiting to see how the iPad Mini is specced - and then it'll be the turn of the MS surface tablets to grab my attention!

I think it's just a case of deciding what you want it for and which tablet does that the best.

If you have any other apple products then you will find an iPad will integrate more easily. If not then the choice is really up to you

What i don't like about android is how fragmented all the apps are. Meaning, they have a massive amount of screen sizes to account for and very few apps actually work "well"

Internet - iPad - Nope Android has a wide range of browser, Using chrome on My Htc One x rapes my Girl friend iphone.
Games - iPad - Again Tegra 3 games IOS well over priced.
Music - iPad Hate itunes with a passion lol
Films - iPad mmm not sure android offer a wide range of video codecs
Photos - iPad Not sure
Battery life -iPad About same has every device
Hate on Apple - Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1

Net - I like chrome more but the size + ppi means it a better expereince, also much better html5 support for iPad.
Game - Tegra offers better looking games, but their is many more games for iPad
Movies - The weird aspect ratio with the iPad kinda ruins movies with letter boxing, android tablets are normally 16:9, and have much better UI with the downloaded media players, and far greater codec support and you can just drag and drop, or send it all over wifi.
Photos - Dont really see how its better, I guess their is iCloud but meh.
Music - Better ecosystem, but google is catching up and the generally easy of use of google music is good, google also have better cloud intergration I feel.

Lets also not forget Android Offer the best customization. From widgets, Launchers, Change all stock apps, Root if you wanted to. Change to different Roms its endless. So if you also like to have your device looking different = Android

yeah i done that whole helpful bit at the start of the thread fancied, thought id mix it up with some nonsense

Dont buy yet, wait for the Microsoft Surface tabs to come out and have a look then if they are crap then the worst case scenario is that with another line of tabs on the market it should send other tab makers into a frenzy and see them pushing even cooler stuff out the door....... maybe lol

if you want a on like that you want the eee pad transform series they have micro sd port on the side and also with the docking station you gain 2 usb ports and a sd card reader as well you have the 16gb which is able to be expanded by a further 64 gig

I have an iPad but I wouldn't pay full price for one, I got mine very cheap, second hand. I'll be looking to jump ship as and when I can get a well priced windows 8 tab tbh.

I have a tf101 and an ipad3. I much prefer the tf101 but it's build quality is very poor compared to the iPad which is why I have the iPad as the tf101 broke.

depends what you want if you want a simple easy to use device yeah ipad will do the job

if you want something for less but just as capable most of the android tablets will do the job too! and you buy one in your price range
