Not sure if we're allowed to discuss placing a wee bet on the footy but I've started placing a £1 bet every weekend on about 6-8 matches. This week my bets are:

Football Barclays Premier League Chelsea v Blackburn Match Result 15/01/2011 15:00 Chelsea @ 2/7
Football Barclays Premier League Man. City v Wolves Match Result 15/01/2011 15:00 Man. City @ 1/3
Football Barclays Premier League Stoke v Bolton Match Result 15/01/2011 15:00 Bolton @ 13/5
Football Barclays Premier League West Brom v Blackpool Match Result 15/01/2011 15:00 Blackpool @ 7/2
Football Barclays Premier League West Ham v Arsenal Match Result 15/01/2011 17:30 Arsenal @ 1/2
Football Barclays Premier League Tottenham v Man. Utd Match Result 16/01/2011 16:10 Man. Utd @ 6/4
Football Spanish Primera Liga UD Almeria v R. Madrid Match Result 16/01/2011 18:00 R. Madrid @ 1/4
Football Spanish Primera Liga FC Barcelona v Malaga Match Result 16/01/2011 20:00 FC Barcelona @ 1/12
Football Barclays Premier League Liverpool v Everton Match Result 16/01/2011 14:05 Liverpool @ 11/10
Which, if they all come in, will be a tidy £296!

Seriously you have chosen favourites all the time although they are in terrible form.

If you put accumulator the best odds are looking at draws. eg bolton/stoke will be more than likely a draw, would have increased odds, same with chelsea/blackburn with chelseas form. would have went for everton instead of liverpool

Should look at form before odds and then choose. probably could have doubled your money by just making them 3 changes

I thought about doing Everton instead of Liverpool, but I figured Kenny would have them up for it and it's an Anfield.

Bolton have been playing some great football, I think they'll beat Stoke. Hence the bet! We'll see.

Yeah but stoke are at home and its a hard place to go and pick up points but understandably if you think they will your going to go with that.

Ive seen this Liverpool story before with my beloved Newcastle 2 years ago
Too good to go down,
World class players,
Just avoiding relegation so bring in a fans favourite

Did us no favours and I cant see it helping Liverpool

The problem with Liverpool is it's not the management it's the players, they no longer have the in depth quality.

Don't do accumulators myself but I know people that have had wins on them.
What you tend not to hear is how much they've bet over a period of time though.

To be honest though sticking a quid down (or any figure that as an individual you are not bothered in the slightest about losing) on something may be worth it for the excitement of looking out for the results alone.

I only usual do single bets with the same stakes, gained quite a bit overall since starting though you do get the odd stints of badluck where can lose a good amount and i only do accumulators if i've gained well for the week but with small stake.

Got 6/1 on Everton this week which at those odds is worth a shot and got a small stake treble of Seamus Coleman, Gareth Bale and Kenwyne Jones all to score anytime at 116/1.

Asian handicaps are usually the best way to bet and also they can be used in accumulators.

I tend to do an 8 game accumulator most weekends, only put 2 quid on so doesn't really bother me if i win or not.

This week put on

Stoke v Bolton - Draw
Wigan v Fulham - Fulham
Chelsea v Blackburn - Chelsea
Bristol City v middlesbrough - City
Watford v Derby - Watford
West Ham v Arsenal - Arsenal
WBA v Blackpool - Blackpool
Man City v Wolves - Man City.

£2 stake returns £1056.

Unlikely to come in but make saturday afternoons a little more interesting :D

one came in a few weeks ago, sadly, 6 of the eight were called off and was my two bankers, Barca and Real came in and i won a tidy 91p :D

I did use William Hill for a while. Plenty free bet offers kicking about for most sites that you should take advantage of. I like the whole process of going into the bookies and filling out my own bets so stopped betting online.

Never bet on anything in my life really, quite tempted to throw a couple of £1 accumulators on but I have a very addictive personality and am scared that I'll get the same over this - do you guys find yourselves ever chucking "just one more bet" on?

Presumably you guys do this online. Any sites recommended or are they much of a muchness?

I am using Bet365 because they pay fairly fast, have good support and they have all the Asian Handicap bets which are essential if you are betting regularly.

I used Paddypower before which were decent however the lack of Asian Handicap betting made me change to Bet365.

Personally I use skybet because i already have a Sky id as I'm a sky customer. Other sites probably offer better odds but you could spend all day searhcing half a dozen sites for the best odds.

When you're only betting a couple of pounds here and there it's not really tempting to chase your losses as they are so small. Normally on a Saturday I'll stick £1 on a draws coupon, £1 on a favourties coupon, £1 on ridiculously long odds coupon and another £1 betting on both teams to score. Champions league weeks I'll stick another £1/2 on midweek. All in all certainly never spend more than £10 in a week and probably average about £5. It sounds a bit silly but I'm not really doing it to win, it's more for the excitement. Winning is just a nice bonus.
