Between Witcher 2 and Deus Ex...

deus ex is a bad console port that stutters like ****, until they release a patch, if it ever comes out

I don't know where you get that from.

I have exactly the same spec as the OP (only difference is I have Win 7 64bit and not WinXP) and I have played Dues Ex: HR all the way through and it did not stutter once.

I have not played Witcher 2 so I can't comment on that but Dues Ex: HR is a brilliant game

Neither, Witcher needs an uber computer to play and deus ex is a bad console port that stutters like ****, until they release a patch, if it ever comes out, its the same problem that black ops has

haha what a load of rubbish.

Deus by a long shot. I really wanted to like TW2 and, for a bit, I did. But it is clumsy, the combat is a little naff and seems rushed at the end.

Deus has a much better story, somewhat more cohesive than the first, and is an absolute delight to play. You can compare it to the first and in some ways it is much better.

Just my opinion, though.

Ok guys, thanks for the advice!
I am thinkin of going over-budget and buying both. I know i WILL eventually get both so i might as well get them now.

From your posts i understand i will have trouble running Witcher 2 @ at least Medium settings. What upgrade would you consider will have the greater impact and allow the game to run @ Medium (or High) settings @ 1680*1050. CPU? Graphic Card?
I remind my system: AMD 6000, 4 Gb Ram, 275 GTX, Win XP

Just pick up one! They will both be less than half price in no time.

I have the same decision to make.

Think I'll get deus ex, I like some rpg's but others bore me completely.

Loved Mass Effect, Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Bored by Dragon Age, Witcher 1, Divinity 2.

Deus Ex. I really didn't get on with Witcher 2. Played it for about a hour and it just done nothing for me.

I personally (having only briefly played the Witcher II at a friends) would say Deus Ex :) Fantastic.

TBH, i dont think your system will struggle that much. It is coming out on xbox 360 next year so if you just turn the texture quality down a bit and have no AA then you should be alright.

Without ubersampling turned on i don't think it is all that demanding at all.

i actually just bought both of these myself, paid £11.50 for witcher 2 and for buying that i got Deus ex for £22

Just to add my opinion having completed both.

The Witcher 2 is, imo, the superior game, even on low it looks better then Deus Ex, it is a longer game with more side quests and a longer playtime if you decide to neglect the extra's. It has a good story and a lot of surrounding lore if you wish to get engrossed in the world, the downside is that the game does mention some stuff that might go over your head if you've never read the books or played the first one.

It had a great intro, a good ending and has enough to bring you back for a 2nd playthrough(basically the 2nd and 3rd chapter are completely different depending on a choice you make in the first).

Expect about a 20 hour playthrough if you follow the main story arc and possibly 30-35 hours if you're a completionist.

Deus Ex: HR looks average at best, although a 'seperate team' worked on the PC version it looks as if they didn't do much to utilise the latest hardware. It has a good story and, like the Witcher 2, there is a lot of extra stuff to read to help elaborate on the world. I personally found some of the immersion killed due to poor voice acting and animations from NPC's that populate the world.

It had a great intro, but the endings(including the entire final act) was abit of a let down imo, the extra endings were literally copy/paste with different words. The endings basically didn't justify the time investment imo. There is enough to pull you back for a second playthrough, as a lot of the cutscenes change slightly with how you navigate through your missions.

Expect about a 15 hour playthrough going full on with no stealth, thats including the side quests you get. Double that figure to 30 hours if you choose to go stealthy and do the side quests(you get 1 extra as far as I'm aware).

Conclusion obviously it's down to individual tastes. Both games are good, and both are worthy purchases. At this moment in time though I would definately go for the Witcher 2, it's cheaper, longer, better looking, more fulfilling(imo), has been patched to iron out issues AND has extra FREE DLC coming this month. Deus Ex has been causing a lot of issues for some people(I never encounted them tbh) and thus far no DLC is announced.

TL: DR The Witcher 2 it's cheaper, longer, better looking, more fulfilling(imo), has been patched to iron out issues AND has extra FREE DLC coming this month.

All pretty sensible stuff, but i would say that Deus Ex is the longer game, it certainly took me longer anyway.

I agree that the final act of Deus Ex is not that strong, but you could say that doubly for TW2(last chapter took me about 90 minutes).

I thought that the first chapter of TW2 was absolutely breathtaking, but the second(whichever option) and third were disappointing imo and the game goes down hill for me. I was also slightly disappointed overall with the story

Also, i love the freedom that you get in Deus Ex, the choices are not just dialogue or story decisions but properly govern the way in which you play the game and affect every aspect of it.

I did like TW2, buti would say that Deus Ex was a class above it:)

PS what is this dlc, i can't find much info on it. From what i can tell it is just an Arena mode?

Hi there!
I am about to buy a game and iam divided between those two.
I like a good story, some action (not mindless shooting or button mashing), a good portion of RPG elements etc
I have a AMD 6000 (dual core), 4GB Ram , Win XP and a 275 GTX Card.
Can you point me to one of these games?

Go for Fallout - New Vegas.

Will run fine and is at least three times better then either of those over hyped and overrated excuses for entertainment.
