The "News" is a working solution. You should hear an announcement in just a few days time.

looks like a bios update after all.

If they pull this off I will be impressed to say the least :p

Hi guys - just come away from EVGA Forum.
Promised this week !! a fix for the 680i Quad FSB issues.

Fingers crossed and its quoted as a working fix - i presume thats a bios update and hopefully not a hard mod. :D

I would be very surprised if they do, from what I've heard it's a physical limitation of the board and the voltages it can produce, not a BIOS issue.

The only issue I've had with mine was SATA RAID instability ultimately leading to dead Windows installs, on the issue of poor RAID performance this is a separate issue and can be resolved by tweaking driver settings to get the expected performance, and not the bandwidth limited performance that most users will report.

So all the specs listed in the manual and box is basically false information such as a FSB 1333Mhz for newer quad cores due later this year if so i think a lot of use will be sending these back!

Gotta say that Im not using quad or SLi at the moment, but the only issue with my 680i board seems to be the vCore staying at its default level but that might not be the mobo. In fact I think its an awesome mobo! Got it clocked stable @375(1500)fsb, e6600 @ 3.4.

edit: its an Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680i btw.

Some of the more hardcore fps gamers use PS2 keyboards as you can hold down more keys simultaneously than you can with USB, stuff like the Steelkeys and Raptor K1.

Never had that problem personally. Most games allow you to alter the config file to allow for multi key scripts. I also have a G15 that allows you to macros additional keys ;).

Good news about the quad fix..if it comes to fruition.

I am starting to believe that all my problems could be 680i based (bfg variety)
the only thing thats stopping me say this outright is the potential of it just being Windows vista being awkward.

Hardware wise everything seems to work ok (device manager fully and correctly populated) but Vista (even with 2GB Detonator Ram, [email protected], 8800GTX, 700w Epsilon psu, 75GB raptor and IDE dvd rw) just runs very very slowly. On a fresh install it takes about 2 minutes to the log in screen (going completely black in the process for about 1 minute) , IE takes several seconds to launch. Inbuilt Windows applications (like performance / reliability apps) take even longer and 3dmark06 doesnt even finish the system scan at the 1st run!!!

I am going to reinstall XP /MCE SP2 and see whether that improves things - in one sense I hope it is just Vista , but that would also mean about £120 down the drain - unless I keep the exact same hardware until Vista is working properly. If it is the mobo and I change it, and MS are as harsh as is rumoured regarding Vista I may be ******* either way.

*clone gives his 680i board a great big hug and tell`s it not to listen to the nasty man* ;)

Great board for clocking and stable, never had any trouble with mine apart from the northbridge fan,now watercooled :D

That G15 looks a nice keyboard, especially the LCD...unfortunately I've got one of those evil slide-out trays on my desk and it's a little too long to fit. I saw a review on that new Razor Keyboard that has on-board memory for different Macros etc, sounds like it could give you an edge online (which quite honestly I could do with :D )

*clone runs off to the forest with chainsaw in hand and cut`s down a large oak tree to make Arcane a bigger computer case*

Sold my unopened G15 because i have 10 thumbs :D

We've just moved to a smaller house and i've been ordered by "her that must be obeyed" to move the PC to "under the stairs, out of the way" so I don't make the living room look untidy...I feel like a teenager again...banished to my bedroom...magnificent :p .

My wife tryed that move on me,i just gave her the evil mad axeman look for about 30 seconds, and my pc is now beside my bed :D

Give her an ultimatum, tell her either the PC stays where it is or she has to be put under the stairs lol!
