Curious for anyone who ordered this (mainly the special edition) from amazon... did anyone else receive it in a huge box like thing!? And inside another box!? XD Apologies if posted before but I didn't see anything.

I just got it in one of those DVD cardboard sleeves they use...

ps3ud0

Asked my friend and so did he, really confused now haha. Massive outer sleeve (longer than 30cm) and inside another box that is amazons frustration free packaging... I don't remember picking anything for this haha. Maybe they ran out xD

I'm very sensitive To tearing, Heavy Rain was very bad for it in quite a few areas of the game.. It totally annoyed me, but the story was so compelling I mostly tried to ignore it so as I could get to see one of the games many endings.. Game was so good, I played it again, with move controls and had a different ending.. Screen tearing and all..!!

i'll download the demo for Beyond souls see how it is. missus liked Heavy RAin, she enjoyed watching me play it. she might enjoy this one.

Sounds like Amazon's standard massive over-packing of items. They're supposed to have toned it down, but I kid you not just a couple of months ago I received two t-shirts and a sports bra for the wife inside a box that could have held a shower unit plus accessories.

Did a full session yesterday and finished the game (albeit a few drink/smoke breaks) in around 24 hours. The game is excellent, it was just like playing a CGI film. Gona do a few more runs of the game for the other 3 endings. Really enjoyed it though. Much better than Heavy Rain which I've not played since release years ago and shall have to run through that again some time.

I've just played through the demo and if it wasn't for the fact I hardly ever pay full price for games (I've been disappointed too many times!), the annoying (to me) semi-interactive controls, and the mixed reviews*, I might be tempted to spend some of my account balance on this. It has the same kind of production values which led me to take a full price gamble with Last of Us, and I certainly didn't regret that for a moment.

It's certainly a very dramatic introduction, with some pretty emotive story hooks, and it looks amazing. But the interaction makes me feel like a puppet rather than a player, and with a backlog of PS+ titles on top of a bloated Steam catalogue (not helped by this week's Humble Bundle) this is going on my future bargain hunting list... though I'd love to keep playing right now, which I annoying... I want to be less tempted. :-)

*After playing the demo I can understand both sides of the review debate very easily indeed.

Just finished it today, bloody brilliant in my opinion, hits you right in the feels. Really want to play through again to see the other endings, though I was really happy with what I got.

Awesome work once again by David Caige, creating games that no one else is doing. Really is nice to have something unique to experience. Also thought Ellan Paige and Willem Dafoe stole the show as well as the guy who plays Cole!

Also just finished. Really fantastic game. I will play again in a couple of weeks and do things a bit different.

Easy 9/10 and a credit to this type of game. A very unique experience.

Just ordered this after watching a few videos on youtube. I'm getting really quite bored of mainstream games, but from how different this looks and how well directed, it looks like an incredible experience.

I completed it over the weekend and loved every minute of it, its game of the year for me just beating the last of us.

Its such an involving an emotional experience which i have never felt in any other game.

Bit the bullet and got it over the weekend, the demo does it no justice. Its not a GOTY for me, but still worth the money.

Okay so I just finished it and I guess my opinion differs from a few others here heh but I'd give it a 7 or 8 out of 10, not really sure yet.
I don't know... I defiantly had a few quarrels with it, like I understand that they tried to make the controls more intuitive but there were instances where it just didn't do what I thought it'd do, responds to any movement or in one case just did not respond at all. (maybe a bug?)

I also felt like I should have been invested in the characters but some of the scenes I just felt nothing? (I guess that makes me heartless? D:) Maybe it wasn't helped by the fact I predicted what would happen, which happened quite a lot and managed to predict a few things correctly without much thought.

On the whole though it was a pretty solid experience and on the technical side was pretty amazing and I think it achieved what it set out to do, just a few things disappointed me about it along the way.

Just completed the game. Really loved the first 75% or so but it did lose me a bit emotionally near the end. I thought the director did a fantastic job of building Jodies character, I felt so bad for her and really cared for her situation.

The biggest annoyance for me was the forced Ryan romance. Honestly, the game did such a great job at making me hate that guy, but the way it kept throwing him at her was really frustrating. I think the director went too far with making him out to be a complete cold, arrogant, self-centered douche-bag that when they tried to introduce elements of romance, it was just hollow, almost laughable that they would try to force the two characters together.

I also found Nathan's descent into madness a bit... cliché. I mean, I thought the beginning of the game was fantastic, i.e. how they gradually set it up and developed emotional attachments. It set a high standard for the rest of the game that it felt as if it was almost too much to live upto, and so left it feeling a little stale during the last quarter of the story.

Overall I enjoyed it. It was a great emotional journey, and thats the way I'll see the game because it isn't and wasn't intended to be anything else. There are lots of people saying the gameplay is absent and that it lacks standard things that videogames are "meant" to have, but I disagree-- there is no set standard to say what a game should or shouldn't be, and Beyond Two Souls offered an experience that the majority of games fail at even scratching the surface of. So I'd love to see more games like this made in the future.

I finally got around to playing this and completed it today. I have to say I really did enjoy it, was such an emotional rollercoaster. Ellen page did such an amazing job as Jodie. It's one of those games though that I don't want to play through again though. I played it through and that's how I want my "personal" story to be like. Playing it again I think would spoil it.

I think it jumped around maybe a bit too much. But the story was extremely good, I really did care about Jodie.

That all said...... The ending.... If it wasn't so late in this gens life cycle I would have thought there might be a DLC coming later down the line. But really can't see it happening for some reason.

Overall though fantastic game and everyone should play this at least once. Truly a great and different gaming experience.
