BF1 ping issues

well I've spent enough for the time being so wired it will have to be. thank you for looking into it, the idea would have been a good one. :)

You wouldn't necessarily have to buy a new router - Plusnet's new one is the same as BT's HH5, which supports Dual Band AC (802.11AC) which operates on the 5GHz frequency. You'll want to ring them up and explain the old router has started cutting out, dropping connection. Say you've done all the testing, such as rebooting etc. See what they say and then report back here :)

It's not so much a BF1 related question as it is general issue. It would have been buried in that thread.

The OP was specifically about bf1, and as a regular bf1 player I can say with experience that it has been happening to a lot of us with wired connections. WiFi gaming may be sub optimal, but it doesn't cause 500ms pings, it causes packet loss and jitter. If the OP has problems with latency in other games then the best place to ask would be in networking otherwise please keep bf1 related issues in the bf1 thread so we don't end up with multiple separate threads containing the same information. Thanks.

Ordinarily, yes. However, his issue was directly related to using a wireless headset - interference may have caused packet loss, resulting in increased ping times.

I'm not sure we know that, and packet loss != high latency. The headphones may not have been an issue at all if the issue is the same one other bf players have been seeing as it tends to go away after a few minutes.
