BF2 mod: Desert Conflict released!!

Will this be better than Project Reality??

Im in a toss up between these? Can i have both installed n switch between the two when i want??

its not any better, or any worse, just different.

PRMM i found over complex, but Dcon is built just to have sheer fun! ;)
 
PRMM to me is like what counterstrike was to deathmatch HL except you cant go off on a mad solo, it requires 6 people to do that (or it sucks just like dying in the first 10 seconds of cs is) so its never going to be (as) popular.

Dcon I still havent played yet but its like teamfortress maybe. I just hope theres more to helis and airplanes, that'd be enough to keep me interested
 
theres a littlebird in dcon thats ultra responsive compared to a Hind or Apache.

Which is great untill u try playing it after 6 hours of hind / apache, and crash.
 
Its similar in PRMM, the apache is like a boat in comparison because of the weight of missiles I guess. I still havent had a go of the littlebird with hellfires on it, that might be a good combo :)
 
Been spending some time playing this, and it's pretty good, I like how it's actually possible to take out air units as infantry, and the best maps are the solely desert ones. Nothing like a huge tank battle to be honest. However, the player controlled artillery is really stupid on some maps, I think it's Eastings basically each team is just raping the others base with artillery the whole map, and pretty much everybody goes Anti-Tank aswell.

For a 0.1 release it's pretty good, I'd love a night map with just tanks and infantry if that is even possible.

Edit: As a mod Project Reality is far better, but then again it is nearing 0.6 and DCON is only on it's first release.
 
Finally bf1942 and DC maps in bf2, and finally normall air vs air combat, not the crappy :'' quick evade '' the ground anti air rubbish...

But graphics wise, is it me or does it look worse than in 1942, the maps, and some of the vehicles (cockpit in one of the opposition choppers is awfull :eek: )?

Kept that, great mod...

You get hand held AA in PR too, its a 1 hit kill on the cobra if you can get a lock.
Used short range like a bazooka and its deadly

I played dcon maps and thought the graphics were all right, are you playing it on full settings?
The desert map I played was nuts, artillery vehicles and scud launchers. I also liked the map with the river approaching the shanty town, good map design.

I havent been back after playing once though, its very arcadey and not a patch on a good game of PR tactics gameplay.
Everything in PR is atmospheric with a strong (slow) feel to it wheres dcon is like a sugar high + WMD
 
Two end of round shots from dcon and pr respectively. PR certainly reuses bf2 models, Im not sure if dcon is done more from scratch?

i wasnt a fan of desert conflict, it felt very unpoilsihed to me..although am v involved in PR atm so may give it another go!

it also did weird things to my pc, loads of stop errors caused by device drivers and one error reading from th HD..uninstalled and everything ok now
