its amazes me that on these boards peeps are willing to bicker and argue the toss over stupid things
it seems to happen in any thread these days where someone has a diff opinion to the OP or dares to point out problems with 'said' game
ill be willing to bet that when BF3 is churned out well have the same thing all over again
back OT: BF2 scene, the games still alive, still has servers , still has problems, and is mostly 'still' fun

I hated PR. I liked the vanilla much more than all the various mods I've tried. 
What you need is to find a good tournament where the focus is on teamplay and less on the pubbie crap!!!
I currently play on a European based tournament and have done for the last 12 months! There is no TKing for jets /Helo's as we have a designated airforce and the focus is all about organised teamplay! We have a chain of command that people must follow but it just adds to the experience!
We currently into our 6th campaign and each campaign last for about 7 battles which run for 3 hours every Saturday starting at 18.00 GMT! We are currently using our new mod which pits the US vs North Korea! We have new vehicles and use custom maps! For those who might be interested heres a link pop along and check it out.

You are saying there are no major game patches for a long time, and arguing whether or not 1.41 is a major or minor patch. You are saying the game is boring and partly that is because no patches are released ?!?
here are my comments on this:
1. Do you really think the game needs another patch? As far as i'm aware there are no major bugs left to fix...
2. Maybe you should try playing the game "occasionally" instead of "24/7" and you may not get so bored with it...
BF2 is a great game, much more realistic than 2142 or others. Try playing it on 1248 x 1024 (or higher) with MAX settings and X-fi audio on Ultra-High.
