BF2 Still Active?

^ indeed, 2142 is really bad <_< then again maybe some people like that futuristic crud 
I hate bf2142.
There are a few servers on bf2 where teamwork is non existant.
I mainly go on highway tampa map love it c4 tanks and cars. I just make a squad and drive around in tank packs and own anyone who comes in sight.

The game can take some getting used to.
I think if you wnt to fly and stuff learn in single player or host your own network game (which no one will be able to join). Theres only one game i played more then BF2 and thats Empire earth as i was ranked top 5 player in the game (by the other gamers, there was no offical ranking). But BF2 kicks ass. I spend most my time in helicopters flying with friends. Once you get into clan matchs thats where the game really kicks ass!
Ive pritty much trained exclusively over the last 6 or 7 or so months in flying choppers and sniping. Once mastered you can totaly destroy the enermy team by your self in a clan match in infantry only or in chopper maps. Especialy with a chopper as once mastered you wont be able to be taken down, with the odd exception.
Get the game, youll love it. But dont expect to be able to pwn everyone at once. Many people on that game are vetrens and kick ass!

Great game just lousy support and likewise full of morons who teamkill you. Just pub servers mainly that have that crap. But that's like just about the whole game. In reality your teams the worst enemy. If I die it's usually by my own team who teamkill me. Unless on inf only servers.

If your going to buy it get the new dvd they do with all the expansion packs plus BF2 on one disc, BF2, Special Forces, Armoured Fury, Euro Forces. If you do a quick search you will find it on the net. I'm sure I seen it for around £24.99

Much better game play these days mate. For whatever reasons things changed around the time of the IO patch & 2142 being released. From this point on the lack of tards was noticeable & gameplay/teamwork improved loads.
Loads of reasons things improved i s'pose & my examples could just be coincidence, all i know is it happened. All this year i have gone from one server to the next picking up full squad teamwork based gameplay. Nothing prearranged just casual public play as & when i fancy. No matter when i go on my squad fills & the team plays together. On the odd occasion it don't i just leave & join the next server.
I am high ranked so that helps when you need support/squad members but even noobs play in squads & follow orders in my experience.
I have to say that noobs to BF2 are superb as squad members as they are keen to do well/score well & are feeling that buzz i had ages ago.
Noobs are what will keep BF2 going & vets know & respect that.
I would advise anyone new to BF2 to play Infantry only at first as this is where teamwork is needed more than most & lack of teamwork is pretty much a death sentence. Squad up & work as a team or Die to be quite honest. Just join a squad as medic & keep your Squad leader alive first then squad members second, give your life to revive the squad leader as this is Key to success as a squad. drop packs for the others but whatever you do revive your squad leader. Then just follow orders & use voip but only when needed.
On vehicle maps it is different & you do have to look for a teamwork based server. You may have to go on 3 to find 2 teams having it proper. Don't get involved in any Tard behaviour though, if there are idiots on there killing for planes & armour just leave, don't waste your gaming time on some retard just leave. With vehicles practise makes perfect is about all i can say but all vehicles are instinctive.
With the Awards scheme it's like single player achievements built into your multiplayer game but also as you gradually go up in rank you are required to get certain badges/awards Before you rank up. This works out perfect as by the time you are high rank you have worked your way round All classes & all armour/planes/jets etc etc etc

Don't forget the awesome chopper combat in BF2. The choppers alone would make BF2 worth it imho. It's not realistic, but realistic enough that it requires a certain amount of skill/coordination whilst being fun at the same time.
My only real beef with BF2 is the tv missle on the choppers and the ridiculous manuverabilty of jets.

some guy who is ranked 10th or below just has a ridiculous amount of time in it and is really bad <_< which is basically impossible with 1500 hours just in a heli! LOL

How can you change the name of your account, but keep your points?
I've played a total of 40 hours, but I've had the game since a few weeks after release (I don't play games often!).
So getting those points back really will take me a long time...
Anyway yeah, I put my account name as my real name, didn't realise it'd appear in-game. Then I was too lazy to start a new account. Now I don't want to loose my points!
Any ideas?
