BF3 Beta FPS thread

Fraps is good as it can output a text file with min, max and average frames over a set period. Seems like an awful lot of texture usage? and if that is only "medium" as previously suggested I hope it gets more efficient!

Dude can you run the game at 1680 * 1050 with those same settings and let me know the fps, Im thinking of getting a 6950. Do you get the stuttering/freezing?

There's occasional fps spike but it could be a server lag in any case.

You'll get better fps at that resolution but I can't test it since it's 16:10 and would look horrible when stretched on my monitor.

You can bet your rig will be getting a lot higher fps, probably 50-60.

Me too, DICE will optimise the crap out of it. That coupled with better drivers makes me confident us with 1GB cards in crossfire wont need to upgrade. Worst case scenario the ATI drivers to make it stutter free wont be about weeks after release, but I can live with that since I'll be playing this for months if not years to come

It does, I get around 50 - 60 on Ultra but the intermittent stuttering/freezing makes it unplayable so I have to go down to High settings with shadows on low and AA off. Must admit on Ultra it looks gorgeous! I see a difference between high and ultra so Im not sure why people say there's no Ultra in the beta, if it wanst there why have an Ultra option?

Last time I played on Ultra, vRAM usage went pretty close to 2GB so that may be the cause of occasional stuttering, assuming that your graphics card doesn't have enough memory.

Thats the theory but users who have CF 6950 with 2GB VRAM are seeing the stuttering too so were beginning to think its an ATI driver issue

This must be some sort of driver issue.
Single 6870 = runs fine

crossfire 6870 = runs great for 10 minutes, but then starts to stutter and gets worse and worse, not temp related, am running same settings as with single, so must be a driver issue?

Surely this means its not a VRAM issue, there's hope yet for my 5850s :)

I think I'm going to keep my 5850's till the game is released and see what it's like on whatever dirvers are out then, if still stuttery I'll get a single card.

Which current single card can play 1920*1200 at max settings with a decent framerate out of interest?

hit the nail on the head there i have 2 6950's.and the longer i play the frames seem to go down and down .if i come out of the game and re connect the frames are back up again and so on..its as tho its droping the second card or something ,very strange indeed

I would say 6970, spent the entire day today looking at alternatives to 5850 CF lol

lol yeah I had sort of decided on that, maybe thinking of selling the 5850's now as I should be able to get around £150 for the both of them and that's a good chunk towards a 6970. Come release of BF3 I think I'd struggle to get much more than £60 for each card. :(

Just played a game with crossfire disabled - no big lag spike after playing for a while, phew! Lost about 10-15FPS average but was still about playable.
