BF3 Beta FPS thread

Running it on the following settings.

Capture-7.jpg

Lowest ive seen with afterburner osd is 65fps on caspian, ill have to download fraps and get a more detailed bench over a full round. Gpu's are clocked at 750/1500/1674. They will do 800mhz easily but the fan noise gets a bit annoying.

I have just replaced my old GTX260 with a GTX480, out of curiosity, I tried the 260 with my sig spec, it was laughable.

<15fps @ low! - its abysmal.

By comparison, my GTX480 mullers romps through the beta with no issues for me.

Ditch the 260.

thank you for the confirmation! I'll keep an eye on graphic cards deals for the next few weeks.
I've pre-ordered BF3, I'll be ready for it whnt it arrives :D

Low shadows, ambient occlusion off and motion blur off... Of course you're not going to be struggling for FPS with it set like that. Turn them up to what everyone else is playing at and THEN try comparing.

was clear about the settings in the first place ,when i play i dont want motion blur or ambient occlusion on in any game and high shadows is a big fps hitter in bf3

No problem. :)

The daft thing though, with everything else installed on my machine the GTX260 is still a cracking performer, seems almost criminal to retire it for one game.

Ho hum, I recall having to ditch a perfectly good graphics card back when BF2 came out.

Conspiracy anybody? :p:D

Playing Metro, my GPU and CPU usage were close to 100%.

Playing Caspian, my CPU usage is close to 95% but my GPU usage is around 50% and as a result my fps = 20-35fps

I play at 1920x1200 and have most settings on medium /high with shadows off and 4xAA.

My Q6600 is oc'd to 3.2.

Anyone else noticing a low GPU usage?

I must try the old drivers as i am using those beta drivers at the minute.

dunno what FPS I'm getting, but I'm surprised by how playable it is on Caspian Border, on my Q6600 / 9800GTX+ :D

Detail setting are all on low, mind, so will hopefully be pleased with the uplift from a new GFX card.

Eyefinity with medium\high settings is borderline unplayable currently. 5760x1080 is a nogo, 4800x900 is more bearable but when load on one card drops from 100% your framerate bomb from around 50 to 25 or thereabouts its jarring as hell. Thats everything on medium, no fsaa or hbao. That being said hbao on\off makes no difference visually from what i can see, with it off i regain about 10 or so fps.

^^2.5GB vram usage, similar to what I get, makes it very laggy, especially when zooming in... playing in a window eliminates all my problems with lag/stutter for some reason?

I've been reading quickly trough this thread...you all have high end setups..
But what's the lowest I can get away with?

I guess I really MUST upgrade for BF3...

I have a GTX 260...that's not going to allow me to play the game decently..:(

What would you guys recommend for a cheap card that would do the job?

I was thinking a 6950 unlocked to 6970...is there one you would recommend for overclocking?
I think sapphire have the highest rate of overclocking...am I right?

Nvidia bight not be able to compete in terms of price with a 6950 I think...

my setup:
1920x1080
Q9950
8GB ddr3
SSD

I roo have a 260GTX (although it's the 216 core version with 1.8GB VRAM) and in conjunction with i5-750 @ 3.6GHz and 4GB RAM I run BF3 at 1920x1200 in the "Low" preset and get 45-70FPS, regardless of whether I'm playing Metro or CB.

It's not bad and perfectly playable, but I'm upgrading because I want eye candy!

Rez: 2560x1440

Dual 6950's flashed to 6970's

Fully maxed out settings.

40 to 90 fps on metro.

I just noticed your image saying max. 3092mb memory usage on your gfx card, I thought SLI and Crossfire both do max of one card, so if you have two 1024mb cards you won't have 2048 but just 1024mb memory, isn't that right? Or is SLI different than crossfire in that specific case?

I've got a GTX 480 and I wonder what the best thing would be for me as I really wanna play it smooth at 2560x1440... probably get another GTX 480 :D

I was just wondering how much money OcUK has pulled in from people worrying about hardware requirements on the forum :D

Hmm, T.W.O Msi 2GB 560ti or Msi 570 for £70 more? I'm still thinking this ram issue with BF3 is overblown and will be sorted by the final release, but if the 560ti will be more than a match for it I'm happy to save the £70.

1920x1200, Q6600 @ 3.4ghz, 16GB ram... Thoughts guys?

+1

I am playing on my middle monitor because it just feels better. Medium setting with my rig gets 40-50fps now in Metro. Caspian... pfft... don't even go there!

Annoying at having 3 GPUs and 6GB GRAM and using 70%

Whats ultra look like compared to high? I get really good fps on High with a couple of things on ultra at 2560x1600 resolution but wondering what everything maxed on ultra is looking like for some ppl? I know this is beta so things could change a lot for release version.

Two of my other guest PCs both have the same spec

4gb ddr2
HD4850
Both latest drivers

However one has a Intel e8400 (stock) and the other a 5600+ 2.9Ghz (stock). Now the Intel rig is running with higher frames and higher settings.

The am2 rig is really struggling even with all on low and the graphics seem weird with black terrain?

Should there be that much of a difference between them?
