Stop panicking people... just wait for BETA, see what it plays like and decide. I cannot see more than a 6950 being needed for maximum settings at 1920x. Ultra on the other hand...
Just chill Winston!
You'll only get a small taste of with the Beta though. It's not open massive conquest with dive-bombing planes etc. It's the same as Alpha.
Since when was 30 fps acceptable frames for an online FPS?
Hint - Never.
I can't really believe they would release a game that requires such a high end pc to play at decent detail levels. Would seem like a bit of a suicidal move.

Why not? I mean, look at Crysis, it took people years to be able to play the game on max. I actually think this is a good thing. "Will my PC run BF3 max?!". ha ha.
Although I do think there is a lot of marketing and it should be taken with a pinch of salt. For max they prob mean 8x aa, super sampling, which really isnt needed when you play on something over 1200, about 2x-4x is more than enough.
If you have a top end card now I really don't see the point in going SLI/Crossfire when the new cards are hopefully the start of next year. I'm sure people can turn down a little bit of eye candy and save them selfs £300+ for the sake of a couple of months, talk about diminishing returns.
I remember BF2 destroying my PC with the demo. I quite enjoyed it despite it killing my PC. I then saved hard to upgrade at the time, was amazing when I put a new 6800GT in my system and the game became amazing to play.
I now have a decent system (4.6ghz i5, 4gb ram, 560Ti OC) - but still fairly concerned that I might need to spend more to play this maxed out. Never a bad thing - as it adds to re-playability. But frustrating that I've upgraded to play this game and that still might not be enough.
I agree Bob and Daz, I think this is a good thing. It will be good for the hardware manufacturer's and people like OcUK
I wonder how much wattage I'd need with overclocked i5, 2 x SLI 560ti OC, 2 HDD, sound card? I've only just bought a OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w.
I'll obviously be giving it a stab on my system, then I can plan a nice Xmas present to myself to really push the graphics up
