BF3 min/rec specs show as follows.......

I thought 7000 series is out in 2012 now? looks like if u need or want a better level of detail for bf3 then u have to buy now or wait 4 months for next gen medium range 7000 series. So even then you wont see much improvements if any over a 6970/580gtx. At a guess i'm seeing more manufacturing delays and high end 7000 series out in 6 months. That's going by by what amd press reports i've seen flying around.

One of the devs on twitter has now said that recommended specs is now for high settings, so there may still be hope for my 5870 yet. Awaiting email for early beta access ment to get 48hrs before 27th so hoping tomorrow?

Completely unverified rumours for now. The only official word we have had is that we can expect some form of the 7000 series out this year, but this was some time ago.

The ideal scenario would be to release the 7970 and 7950 just in time for BF3.

The worst would be the release just to OEMs or debut the laptop GPUs only, this would do more damage than good to AMD as the press would question their ability to crank out bigger GPUs on the process.

If anything is going to happen this year, it should be the release of 7970 and 7950. This way AMD will be able to claim having the fastest DX11 card, and also the best cards to play BF3, which will be the most significant PC game to come out for some time. This would also mean they grab the headlines without having to supply to the midrange, and therefore cut the amount of GPUs they have to manufacture for the meantime, which could alleviate any problems GF is having with the process (news is that 28nm production has already begun).

Given their efforts to unify CPU and GPU, I wouldn't be surprised if AMD plans to release (in one form or another) Bulldozer and the 7000 series at the same time.

As usual, grain of salt, just my 2 cents, etc. :)

I guess my 5770 won't run this at decent settings on 1920x1200? Lol

Rest of rig - i7 950, 12gb ram, 60gb ssd.
Should I just bang a 6990 in and hope for the best?!
