I would just get 2 x 7970. This should last you for a long time. It should never be vram limited and has plenty of grunt to back it up.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
Shut up. If that is really your budget then why do you need to come here. Common sense would dictate that at that budget you'd just buy the most expensive card available times 2 knowing that would do all you ask. After all your asking for multiple monitor support on one of the most demadnig games aailable and wanting two years future proof. Everyone knows a 560Ti isnt going to come close or a 570 or even a 580 so you didnt need to come showing off
I recently did an article pitching a GTX580 3GB vs 7970. Both overclocked editions and the 7970 was a between 10-20FPS faster in BF3, the gap widened when the cards were manually overclocked. If you want to compare a 1.5GB GTX580 against a 7970 then the situation will only get worse for NVIDIA. Those who claim the 7970 is a failure and a waste of money etc clearly have either a)never tried one or b)'green' with envy. The 7970 is the fastest single core GPU out at present and by a decent margin.
GTX5803GB vs HD7970 in BF3
Hopefully NVIDIA will come up trumps and reclaim the crown as it is great for competition and I'm sure they will but for now, if you are in the market for a GPU the HD7970 is the best there is (save for dual core cards).
The 7970 is about 50% faster overall than your card. The latest drivers help the *new* 7970 to deliver a much better BF3 experience.
I'm getting 110fps with 4xMSAA.
PS, there's more than just BF3 out there, it also runs Crysis 2 better than the 580.
You sound butthurt at having a pants GPU![]()
come off it, nvidia have bettered every card they bring out by 10% and usualy 60%+ with an architecture change, the 7970 barley beats a gtx 580 in bf3 with aa
I was being concervative with 10% if im honest
No matter how likely, you simply can not state it as a fact until it actually is because **** happens, even i think that NV may scrape through to top spot.

Big kepler is delayed 6 months.
The rules have changed this year it seems.

this. We can't simply presume everything
As much as i am an nvidia fanboy, i refuse to simply presume nvidia will win every time. If you don't have facts and figures, then maybe it's best not to spread rumours unless it's a rumour thread.

P.S
What have other games got to do with it when the op is intrested in bf3?
The OP won't be playing BF3 only for the next 2 yrs... at least i certainly hope not
I don't think waiting for kepler is the best option. I am fairly confident that kepler will beat the 7970, but is it really worth waiting potentially 3/4 of a year for?
If no news appears about kepler soon, then i'd just get 7970/50's as there's no denying they are very good cards, especially when OC'd
EDIT: dam u and ur edits Cupra!
"the fact that nvidia wont release anything slower than there own old gen means they will win this round FACT"
But how long will you have to wait for that? The 480, IMO, wasn't worth the wait for nvidia fans. It's a great card, and would've been a huge success if released next to the 5870, but it was late.
EDIT": @locky, what GPU's you running?
whilst the 7970 does do very well on a lot of games, on bf3 it doesnt have its typical performance increase over the 580's meaning bf3 isnt a great game for ati.
So how on earth can anyone spec a card for games we dont know about?
i meant games that are out now.

also the op wants multi screen and multi card, this doesnt play well on amd in this scenario
So for the OP the 7970 is a bad route to choose.
Maybe once amd sort the drivers out (could wait 10 years for that every time i have an amd card im always waiting for the next driver release to be dissapointed)
Also he wants the cards to last 2 years and in 12 months the support for the 7 series will dwindle meaning newer non masivly mainstream games will be left off the cf support list meaning the op is left with 1 good gpu and a brick in his case.
i really think you're being a little too harsh on AMD. Many of my friends are still using older AMD cards with no issues.
So for 2 years gaming waiting a month to see whats going on wouldnt be the worst result as buying 580's wouldnt be a good idea for the op either
what if nothing happens in 2 months?
Locky is running 480 sli
i guess it would be close if the 7970 is clocked highly, but the 480's would still win.
It would be nice when people ask a question and for it to be answered directly.
Instead of the same faces arguing about nothing in every god damn thread.
580 sli or 7970 crossfire, your choice OP but I would go for the 7970s.
